McMillion Hotel – Hennigan’s Hotel

I am glad to see this eyesore gone, but, in some ways it saddens me. I think the old buildings help to remind us of what downtown Antigo used to be like. There are so many empty buildings now and it would be nice to see some shops and retailers in the downtown. It’s great that we have a Walmart and the other businesses north of town, but, that small town appeal does not apply to that area. You can’t window shop at Walmart, Fleet Farm or Menards.

At this point, I don’t think the gaping hole where the hotel was is any better than the old building itself. The remaining neighboring buildings are old and shabby looking also. How long will it look the way it does now? I do realize that the McMillion was a public hazard and had to be torn down, but I sure hope that something is done with the property soon.

I too am saddened by the loss of the Mc. That building was a historical land mine and it’s a shame that it fell into the disrepair that it did. I would have loved to see someone restore it to it’s original beauty.

It looks much better now since they fixed up the building that was to the north of the old McMillon. Didn’t take too long – only about 8 months.
