“Thank God for dead soldiers” and “God hates fags.” Picket Signs at Funerals
A Baltimore Man won a huge multi-million dollar lawsuit against Church members who picketed at his son’s funeral. The man’s son was killed in the Iraqi war.
He is urging others to do the same, and sue the Church members for their acts. Even after the lawsuit, the church group continues to picket.

Truly one of the most disgraceful acts imaginable! What could evil could possibly be possessing these people? They may call themselves a “church” but are certainly not serving a Christian God…or any God for that matter! I’m glad to see justice was served against them, even though it’s sadly only monetary. God Bless this young hero’s father for going after these monsters! I am so sorry this happened to him and his family, especially during such a horrible time in their lives. The sacred rites of a funeral should never be mocked, especially those of our brave and irreplaceable American soldiers.
I totally agree. This church, the Westboro Baptist Church, located in Kansas, threatened to picket years ago at the funeral of John Mattek, a soldier killed in the war in Iraq. Their logic is that “these soldiers are being killed as retribution for gays being allowed in the military” (paraphrase, not quote)
I am a student at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and there was a house fire in the last few months that killed three students. A few members of this church had a protest on campus, stating that this was punishment for our schools teaching liberal values that ‘allow’ homosexuality.
I’ve seen many people on this site called morons and such for sharing their opinions because others don’t agree with them; however I feel that these church members can truly be considered MORONS.
My brother is going to Iraq in fall and if this happened to me I would personally go and kick some retaded *ss I would shove them sighns right up there *sses Ill sit in jail to defend my brothers honor
Thank God for the Patriot Guard Riders who visit these funerals and keep the peace, that is one of the very reasons they organized such a group in the first place.
Har Har, I’m sure your brave brother will return safely and as a hero . I know your family is so proud of him. I come from a military family also and it’s so hard. We’ll be praying for your brother and your family. However, if anything were to happen and these people showed up, me and most of the town would be there to support you in your shoving of the signs! Yes, Sherry! Thank God for the Patriot Guard Riders!!! As they say … Who besides Jesus is willing to give his life for others so selflessly? THE AMERICAN SOLDIER! This homophobic crazy church needs to be legally charged! Isn’t what they practice some some kind of hate crime?
