Beer-eze Bar & Grill Now Open

While driving through town this evening, the parking lot was full at the new business in the former Weekends/Rookies building. The “Open” sign was shining brightly. There has been quite a bit of activity going on there in the last few weeks. The work done on the exterior looks great and I wouldn’t be surprised if the interior has had some remodeling done also. So, go give it a try and feel free to post about your opinion of the new outfit. If someone can elaborate on the name of the joint, please do.

*******UPDATE JULY 11,2009 *******

Not sure what is happening with Beer-eze, but, there is a “For Sale” realtor sign & also on the actual Beer-eze sign, it says For Sale or Lease.  Apparently they are closed.  There have been rumors that they planned on re-opening with a different name, but, not sure why they would have it for sale then.

Thanks DDDDD and as for you Fed Up, the thing I was “running from” when I left the large city I came from was the crime and drugs. I very much thought raising my children in a small town was better for them, which is why I’m here. On one hand I don’t worry about them getting involved with gangs something that is a concern to all large city parents, and the likelihood of them being murdered is by far less. However, it would have been nice if someone would have told me I was moving them to a town with a raging heroin issue or a town that has more sex offenders per mile than most large cities. That would have been handy info! So you are right I no longer worry about gangs, Antigo has many other SCAREY problems. I feel so bad for Kayla’s family, because living in a town that would just turn it’s back on a 15yr old girl because they decided she was “just a runaway” is very sad. Even if it turns out somehow that she is “just a runaway” She still needs our help as a town to bring her home safe. And we as a town failed her so far because some of us are too close minded. Thank God not all of us are. So I hope the businesses that are helping her family by hanging the fliers in their windows keep it up. Thank you shoppers guild and once again…. SHAME on you FRED.

I agree, shame on this community we call “HOME” for denying that Kayla was truly in need when she needed it the most…within the first days and weeks. Now here we are at 50+ days and people are just beginning to realize how serious of a situation this disappearance really is? Unimaginable considering that she is only 16 years old.

  3. Otis says:

A raging heroin problem? Far from the truth. The sex offender list is available online for all to see so putting the blame on someone for ‘not telling’ you they are around is your own blunder. By the way, in a smaller town, there is a smaller area, therefore, more sex offenders per mile. Now with Kayla, I’m not sure we have failed as a town. Some have helped, some have not. I am sure that more are concerned than those who are not. Antigo is not perfect, but not the hellhole you make it out to be. You seem to play the victim card a lot. I wonder what the root of that is.

  4. Otis says:

Oh, and by the way, I liked Beer Eze.

  5. Meredith says:

I have no problem discussing anything in my past. I am not ashamed of anything. With that being said:
    1. Alexis – This is his third drunk driving. Hardly stable as a parent. I have chosen to break the cycle. He has sued twenty plus people…that has to tell you something. One of my investors made the comment that he is a bully. Boy is he ever. Neither Wayne or I have had any drunk drivings. I have children who look up to me. What type of an example would that be.

    2. Booth – My ex-husband and father of my two children’s last name is Booth. We were together for 12 years. Booth was my married name. Hardly a crime to take your husbands last name. Both of my girls have that last name. Just in case it comes up in future posts, I had my oldest daughter just after my sixteenth birthday. I stepped up and raised my children on my own. I didn’t use public assistance or have to move back in with my parents. My adulthood started at 16 and I am okay with how everything played out. Sometimes decisions are made out of survival. You can use Wisconsin Circuit Court access to make up any story you want. We all have hard times. When Wayne and I got married, I kept my father’s last name. It was another last ditch attempt to seek his approval and gain long lost attention from him. You see, my father and mother got divorced as he ran off with my mother’s boss. He married her and had two additional children. He forgot about me for ten years. I was so happy to have him at my wedding and thought if I kept his last name, he would pay attention to me. Lesson learned: Be careful what you wish for….attention I got.

    3. Yes, we do in fact have debt from Beereze. 18,000 to be exact. We are working hard to pay this off. I think we need to be careful not to throw stones in this economic climate. We could have filed bankrupcy like alot of other people, but in fact have chosen to do the right thing and pay people back. Our debt to Miller is not uncommon. Wayne works in the beer industry and has accounts past due everyday. He chooses not to spread those rumors around and hurt his customers. Sadly, our total debt is less than what we donated to the community. Lesson learned.

    4. You are right. Unfair to group everyone. There have been some pretty wonderful people here. And we had some great customers and have made friendships for life. My apologies for stooping to a lower level.

    5. My husband and I are still here. Both of us were lucky enough to get good jobs immediately. Both of my children attend the schools here. We do not have any tax warrants, no drunk drivings, no restraining orders.

    6. Alexis – Not sure what your relationship is to my father but I think you are the one that doesn’t have the whole story. I do have a past, we all do. My past is full of mistakes, disadvantages, wonderful things, family, etc. I have no problem discussing it.

    7. We never at any point said we were going to run anyone out of town. We were gracious to our neighboring bars, frequented our competition, took our employees and groups of customers to Not Bobs, Nicks, Smitty’s, Leffels, Blackjack, Three Jokers, BB Jacks, Northstar. I believe this rumor was started because my father came into town and made comments of that nature…never once did my husband or I want anyone else to fail. In fact, we are huge believers in Free Enterprise. We understand that Businesses supply local municipalities with revenue, the government with taxes, and create jobs. We also understand that there is a human being behind all of those cash registers that wakes up everyday to live a dream. Neither of us wish ill will on anyone.

    8. The most hurtful thing is the judgemental attitude of some of the people. It affects my children and that is probably what makes me the most mad. At parent teacher conferences, my youngest daughter’s teacher made a point to tell me that my daughter Macy is a really well behaved, polite, smart, caring and an in tune child. She even went as far as to tell me that she had heard my oldest daughter Maggie has fans in her teachers and coaches. She assured me, that it is refreshing to see such nice children. So, think about what you are doing to the next generation when you pass on rumors without knowing the truth.

And lastly, most of my mistakes or missteps in my life have been surrounded by my father. It’s not his fault, it is mine for allowing his maddness in my life. I have taken full responsibility. July 1st 2009 is the day that I chose to distance myself once and for all from the dysfuntion.

In closing, I am asking that each of you take a step back. My husband I simply chose to stop running a bar, we are gainfully employed, paying our debt back, raising our children, donating money, volunteering and doing our part in the world. None of which are crimes to throw stones at.

If in fact, any of you have questions, please feel free to post. You just might be surprised at what an open book I am.

  6. ignorant people suck! says:

Well said Meredith. I always thought you were a class act and your oldest daughter is a sweetheart. Good luck to you and I well know how hard it is to come into this town and try and start a business against the others that have already been here.

  7. Sherry says:

Otis, Kayla Berg is the biggest victim of our community’s negligence…no one on this website but her.

  8. DDDDD says:

Meredith – You are definitely a class act!

  9. Otis says:

Sherry, why are you indicting the community for negligence? I share your concern for Kayla and pray that she will be found safe and returned. There was a successful benefit, many businesses have been involved, sings are up everywhere, the ADJ and Shopper’s Guide have run stories, surrounding media have covered the story, websites have been launched. I know some have started rumors, not been involved etc. but foolish people are everywhere. The police have made an arrest and continue to investigate. I am not trying to sound argumentative but what, if anything, in your opinion, can be done to change your opinion that the community is not negligent? That was a pretty strong statement and I am just trying to understand what you mean. By the way, if you choose to respond, feel free to post on one of the blogs dedicated to Kayla rather than this one concerning Beer Eze.

  10. Maggie says:

    Dear Everyone,
I’ve been reading the nasty comments and horrible things you had said about my family and our bar. I don’t really know if anybody’s reading this anymore, but just to update everyone on our new current fabulous life.. We no longer live in that nasty poverty filled town, We moved to Green Bay and live in a gorgeous new home. 350,000$ if you would like to know the price. I just wanted to tell all the ‘haters’ or in otherwords the people who have absolutley no life to SUCK IT :) We’ve moved on to bigger and better things. Antigo destroyed alot of things for us and all we’ve ever tried to do is help. You can say the hurtful things you think you ‘know’ about my mother or my family but in all reality you don’t know anything about our life, never have. Oh and ANYONE who does see this and supports Bruce Bieri, I can tell you he is the biggest low life piece of crap on this planet. My grandpa has a drug and alchohal addiction along with how abusive he’s been to my mother her whole life. If anybody has issues, it’s him. ‘Don’t throw stones when you live in a glass house’ And I’ll leave it at that. Our life has been so much better since we’ve moved from that god forsaken town and Anybody who lives there and hasn’t left, you need to get a life. Stop being so Judgemental. There’s obviously something wrong with you if a 16 year old girl has to set you straight. Grow Up. Thanks.

  11. lifehear says:

wow, from poverty to the life of the rich and famous? did u win the lottery or marry a packer, 350,000 $ house, thats alot of money so if Darwin and Shiela are there guess the drug trade is pretty good now. He’s a child molester, thats the lowest of lows, no matter where u live. and just because u live in GB doesnt mean he’s not trash anymore, just more peeps to prey upon. lived there half of my life and trust me its not that special, moved back here to raise my family and have a better life and i do, u reep what u sew. glad u moved down there now our county will have one less drug dealer unless ur running it from there to here, more money to bring in and cheaper drugs.

  12. No Pain says:

Lifehear, you are mixed up. Maggie is not related to Darwin. The Bieri’s ran Beer Eze prior to Darwin moving into that building. In your haste to show your hate, you came across looking foolish. Before you start your verbal assault, make sure you are assaulting the proper party.

  13. lifehear says:

    No Pain,
I do not feel foolish for anything, she’s very lucky not to be related to Darwin, she made it sound like she was, for i do not know who everyone is related to. i dont gossip but i do know that darwin is trash, and if u can go from here to live in a 350,000$ house good for u, but as the cost of living has gone up and the jobs are far and few between i would not be bragging about anything, most dont care

  14. Maggie says:

No, i’m not related to Darwin. And though i do not know the story of his life, it’s not fair of you to judge him. And I don’t care what you say lifehear. We delt with alot of bull$hit from that town when we should not of had to. If you’ve read any of the horrible comments made about my family you would do the same thing. Don’t be so quick to judge. And i resent the fact that you would say we got out house from drug money. Quit being such a judgemental person. Life’s not fun that way.

  15. Maggie says:

    Dear No Pain,
thank you by the way. I’m not quite sure who you are but you must know me some how. Thanks for sticking up for me.

  16. lifehear says:

    No Pain,
I have not stated anything that is hearsay, it comes from the states website, for darwin is a know drug offender and child molester, if u stick up for trash, well thats ur choice, as for the comment about drug money, really didnt understand my prior comment, which was directed at darwin and his family, sorry i thought they were two of the same. But living in a 350,000$ house is a big bill to fit, especially in an economy that is slow, even in gb jobs are far and few between, good luck.

  17. Quiet bystander says:

I thought this blog was closed down. How is it that people are still on here continuing the same trash-talking about a topic that should have been ended? Or is it closed unless talking crap about this Darwin guy?
