Arrrg. It is such a "tired" excuse for putting your kids in public school. All 6 of my children were homeschooled and we had a blast. We had tons of friends and involvement. We did wk.ends in bigger cities at times experiencing culture and people and food. Instead of vacationing at a water park in the Dells, we drove across the U.S.A - now that's some rockin' Social Studies/Geography/Science etc.... Truth be told, when I meet most public schooled high schoolers, it's really dissapointing. They're...well...dumb. They grunt 1 word answers to your questions. They look "bored" and disconnected most of the time. The Homeschoolers I meet are interesting, articulate, and don't think in terms of age or grade, they mix w/ everyone! My kids went through their teens w/ out alcohol, drugs, premarital sex, fights w/ us and the garbage and heartache EVERY ONE OF MY FRIENDS W/ THEIR KIDS IN PUBLIC SCHOOL went through. We had our best times while they were teens - jammin' out in our livingroom on instruments, having other HS families over for campouts and all night game nights! Now we are great friends as they all make their own way in life...w/ good jobs (no college...only trade school). So, whatever! Sure you'll get your sheltered weird HS's out their, just like you get your socially geeky kids in PS. Whew...I needed to say that :*) I am sooooo sick of the whole “sheltered” thing! Arrrg. In fact I looked up other centers in the area and they too had the same violations and one other center which is a quite popular one had some violations which I think were even more severe. I am fairly new to this area so I don't know anything good or bad about the employees or otherwise that is why I choose to write here in Green Bay sites like this are used often for these types of reasons.
