I gotta vent about the joke that someone has decided to play of the people of Antigo. The management of the Walmart here should be sent on their merry way. I am not talking about the senseless reconfiguring of the store, I am talking about the reasoning of having 14 checkout lanes at a store, and only 5 are open. Rumor has it, even from employees there is that the manager gets quite the bonus for running the store as efficient as possible – but this is ridiculous!!!!!!
I hope that who ever is making the decisions on how the store is run reads this. Do us all a favor and resign!!!!!!!!! There is absolutely nothing convenient about the Walmart now.
14 lanes…..why don’t you get them open, hell you already shortened the hours, so make it right.

Is she still there?
I’m not sure if someone can clear this up for me or not, but I went to walmart tonight to buy some things for school. Pens, 2 notebooks, and whiteout. While checking out, the register makes that stupid little nose, and the cashier tells me I have to be 18 to buy whiteout (I’m not quite 18 yet). I’ve only bought whiteout 3 or 4 times in the past, but some were when I was as young as 6th grade at other stores with no problem. Is this a stupid walmart policy or a stupid law? I can see the argument of people “huffing” it, but when someone is buying other school supplies it’s kind of obvious the reason their using it.
ok first off there are great cashiers at wal mart there are bad ones too. you can’t tell me that all the cashiers at copps are friendly. if you don’t want to stand in long lines ANY register can be used i(e jewerly, sporting goods). my question is why do they put the SLOW cashiers on the express lanes….no company can make everyone happy if they could they would make millions and be in every city
If smurfette has a problem with the CSMs she needs to speak to them and leave her little titbaby out of this. He knew his job and is nothing but a liar. They (stockmen) are expected to come in every 10 minutes in the extreme temps. winter or summer.
Her son accuses people of doing things that are always unsubstantiated (do you know what that means?) and that is why things are not done. Investigations usually prove the truth, not his lies!!!!!
What does it matter the titbaby is gone and to whom ever thinks they know so much needs to pay attention to his or her’s own job. To many people think they know so much. From what I know the stockman referred to in the one complaint has medical problem that I would not wish on my worst enemy. Why can’t people be more kind to each other? Life is to short!!!
Store manager Lori tends to make people do their jobs. THe people that get the pressure are usually the people NOT doing their jobs, counting on others to do their jobs for them or just generally in a position for which they are not qualified. Unfortunately Wal-Mart keeps people far beyond what other companies would when their performance is WAAAAAYYY below par. As far as checkouts, in this economy it IS all about the bottom line. Even if bonuses are given out based on the performance, it is the managers responsibility to make sure the store is profitable. I find it interesting that the people on here are complaining about the bonuses. I see no mention that when the store makes its goals, ALL employees receive a bonus. Maybe those that are providing the information didn’t keep their job long enough to find that out. As with any LARGE corporation procedures, policies and operations are dictated by policy wonks in some office building with piped in air, music and personalities. Do not put down the employees management or otherwise. They are only following their directives. I agree if you want short lines, convenience, etc. that you can always shop at a more expensive retail outlet. Prices are set by your overhead, if you have cashiers standing around that equates to wage and benefits expended that do not need to be. Those wages and benefits are added to the price of your product. People are complaining about hour cuts, but would they rather have everyones hours shaved a bit or would they rather have someone lose their job so the remaining employees hours can remain the same. Think about it.
the thing about white out is because of the huffing thing….becuz walmart is a “Family” store….and also Patsy is no longer there…and how does store manager lori make people do their job if you never see her? she is always sitting in her office whenever I go past…..and also…..as a cashier it woud sure be nice if when we say hi to customers if they would actually acknowledge you said something to them sometimes ya know…thats rude too…i like my Job but somedays…..all it takes is ONE….just ONE rude customer to ruin our days too…think about that!!!!!
You are a cashier and you want the customer to acknowledge you and you are worried that one rude customer ruins YOUR day. You are in the customer service field, it is NOT the customer’s responsibility to acknowledge YOU! If you made an effort to greet or say Hi to the customer serve the customer and make sure you are pleasant, then you have done your job. The customer pays your wage…if you think the customer should acknowledge you or one customer ruins your day then you are in the WRONG occupation. You need to find an occupation that locks you in a room with no costomer service contact. As far as Lori being in her office, management has MANY MANY MANY duties. I am sure if you want to speak with Lori you may, if a customer wants to speak with Lori all they have to do is ask. If you want a manager that wanders the floor looking for the contact, who is going to take care of the management responsibilities of the store?
Walmart definitely needs more Patsy’s. She was a bit odd with all the hair decorations being over 13, but she was a sincere nice person. So she hugged people when she thought they needed it! Big Deal!
Kathy Fermanich is another nice checker. If she is working, I will always go to her checkout. She always has a smile & a kind word….one of the VERY few who do!
pasty was wonderful, i’ll admit, if a bit unorthodox. however, she sometimes hugged people who were uncomfortable with that and as a company, if you get that complaint it could be construed as sexual harrassment. i know, it’s bull, but nonetheless, a company has to watch its backside all the time to be certain that one person does not cost them a year’s wages in a moments poor decision, no matter how well meant.
don the rock guy retired i believe. however, selling rocks by advertising them while working at another busy is a serious conflict of interest by any standards and though i agree that he was a very pleasant individual and meant well, he should never have had the rocks at walmart to begin with.
everyone should be nice to each other. each person in the store, customer or associate, is their own person and if they’re impolite it’s that sole person’s responsibility we should not take that out on any other customer or associate. If you friend is mean to you do you treat everyone else you see throughout the rest of the day horribly? I should hope not.
I agree that management is lackluster, but that’s what you get from hiring management personnel from cashiers and cartpushers. No, they didn’t all do that, but that’s the possibilities we’re dealing with. Combined with a program that teaches business practices but forgets to teach leadership in the context of how to lead, how to listen, how to communicate effectively, and how to investigate you lose a lot. I’ve actually been spoken to a number of times for leaving notes with large words in them! How is that justifiable? If you do not understand something someone says because it uses a word you’re unfamiliar with, would you immediately assume they wrote it to be belligerent?
I’ve spoken with many people there and the crime of hypocrisy is committed at Wal-Mart by as many associates as it is by customers. I was approached the other day by a customer who was cussing and insisted they couldn’t find a department because we’d moved it. However, once I pointed it out and explained it was one of the few that had not moved at all the customer calmed down because they realized that they had simply mistaken our store for another as we’re all very similar.
Associates and customers and upper management can be blamed, but no place you’ll ever shop will be perfect. I do my best every day to do my job and be as helpful as possible selling products that we’re not trained with. We have to take the intitiative to learn about all our products on our own and we cannot do so off the clock as it would mean we’re working without being compensated for that work and Wal*Mart doesn’t want to perpetuate the image that they’d approve of unpaid work. In the end, knowing all that I do from both sides, it’s the foul tempered former employees and people who haven’t got what they wanted that have painted such a poor image of Wal*Mart and forced them to operate like they do.
As far as age verification on white out. Just like on so many other things, it’s not that we believe you’ll do something illegal with it, but those few people that have already proven that something illegal can be done have ruined it for you. Spray paint, some markers i think, mature games which kids shouldn’t be buying anyway, some medicines, and other things here and there. I know it’s a pain, but think of what it prevents at the same time. Is it better we allow the crimes to persist because we wouldn’t want to be a minor inconvenience?
Each person has someone that they like at our store. And I’ve had many many customers and other associates from other stores say what an amazing electronics and connection center (cell phones) we have. Apparently having people with degrees in electronics, networking, small computer systems repair, and years of experience in the electronics fields pays off well. I hope that we can better serve everyone in the future. For those that will not be sullied, I am sorry that we cannot reshape the cosmos for you, but we cannot be responsible for everything. Believe me, if we thought we had a shot at it, we’d try our best.
and this is simply my own perspective. i don’t speak for walmart or anyone else. i’m simply calling ‘em as I see ‘em with what i know. granted, i know a fair bit, but i find every now and then that there is something i’ve yet to learn and i know only my areas, little to nothing of those areas around me. but people are people. it’s everyone’s responsibility to be polite.
hey whats the problem….if you read my thing you would have understood what i meant by the “it would sure be nice” comment….kinda sucks when you say hi and they look at you like your stupid or they are on their phone….i am doing customer service….everytime a customer comes up I say hi….i am not worried that one rude customer will ruin my day, i am just saying that when you are rude to us cashiers it makes us slow down and not be nice all the time….that is what i meant!!!!! I know I am in the customer service field, and I know it is NOT the customer’s responsibility to acknowledge me…but it would be nice when you do say hi because as you say we are SERVING them…duh…..I do make an effort to greet or say Hi to EVERY customer and i make sure I am pleasant! I am not stupid and know that the customer pays my wage…Also I do think the customer should acknowledge us and one customer does ruin your day sometimes…and just because I feel this way doesn’t mean I am in the WRONG occupation. As far as Lori being in her office, management has MANY MANY MANY duties. And since you generalized management….how come Assistant Manager John is always the first on the register when we call for help….and to get most of the others up there is like pulling teeth???? I am not stupid either…but it would sure be nice if when we call for help to the front end she came too….customers would like to see it too….I have been told this… And yes it would be nice if maybe one day of the week the store manager did wander the floor looking for the contact, maybe then she wouldn’t seem like such a standoffish person….it’s like you can’t talk to her…..unless you kiss her *ss!
having had as much contact with management in all its many aspect as i’ve had i’d have to argue that the store manager is usually in their office for a very good reason. unless you understand every last aspect of someone’s job you shouldn’t be so hasty to complain about how they do it. i know electronics associates are always told how they’re never doing anything but most people don’t see how much they actually do and they don’t bother to note that when there’s a few of them talking it often actually relates to them talking about a product that has an unusual standard. having seen so many aspects of different jobs i can say that each department has its unique challenges (this applies to many jobs, even military and factory) and that it’s unfair for any person to judge others on how they perform.
and think about this if you will. if every member of management is on a register, who is there to provide service to customers who need managerial assistance on the salesfloor? and what about for a code white? these are just two instances, neglecting corporate mandated conference calls and other calls they are REQUIRED to be on and paperwork they HAVE to enter into the systems. look at the whole picture and be fair. i’ve witnessed lori and other members on the salesfloor hauling butt to get things taken care of and they take the heat off associates shoulders from a good many of REALLY angry customers.
the customer is always right… in at the very least, the aspect that they are the customer and they have the right to not greet you or continue chattering away on their phone. However, this does not mean that they’re attempting to be rude to anybody whatsoever. Perhaps, in this society in which we’re dominated by people on cell phones constantly, they simply having finished the important conversation they’re in. It sounds to me like you’re possibly taking something that has nothing to do with you and taking it as a personal insult because you didn’t get a smile or hello? idk. you seemed kind of contradictory above there. the very least is to treat every customer with respect and courtesy. if they do not return it, than you’ve shown that you’re a better person than they are and sadly, not everyone is a great person. rise above and be what you want to see in the customer. sometimes the best way to make people be nice, is to be so nice it’s sickening, but it usually works.
user3268….whoever you are…that is the best thing anyone has said on here the whole time….
Don the rock guy didn’t retire, they just weren’t giving him enough hours to travel in as far as he was. He was not selling rocks. If you ever checked out his website he had stated that…..and when Jimmy was still there they asked him if he was selling them and he told them no. he was a very pleasant individual and was fun to work with. He only gave the rocks away to make people smile.
and on the part where I said user3268 said the best thing I meant about the customers…but you don’t work up front, and made to feel like your back in grade school and have to ask permission to do things do you? (including going to the bathroom) semperfi said everything the best
lol, i am user3268. just curious as to how separate names might be regarded differently. heh. sorry, devious, but my curiosity got the best of me.
i had to pay don for two rocks that I received. he did not charge for what he had at the store, but if you had wanted anything he wasn’t giving away, there was a fee for it. it was essentially handing out a business card which we aren’t allowed to do. (he actually had the rocks attached to business cards if you recall). I’m not saying he was a bad guy, but that was a no no and if you let the nice guy do you certainly can’t tell the naughty guy he can’t do the same thing.
i am not certain how i came off making anyone feel like they are in grade school. that’s not my intention and we’re all adults. if you’re regarding my comments on how we need to be more polite to customers no matter if they’re obnoxious or not, than I apologize but I stand by it. I’ve sullied some very very angry customers simply by being outrageously courteous and taking the time to explain everything to them. heck, many of them even apologize afterwords when they realize there really is only so much we can do and we’ve exhausted our every resource just for them. i’ll admit, some customers end up going up front angry because somebody on the salesfloor didn’t even try to help them. i’ve seen this too many times but it can really make a customer feel shunted for no other reason than somebody doesn’t rate them worthy of attention. everybody is worthy our attention on the floor, it’s what we’re paid to do. there’s no line in our job descriptions that say “..unless the customer is rude, smells bad, or you have a general dislike for their character…” .
but we do, as associates, have to start being nicer to one another and really stop spreading rumors. some of the most vile things done instore are done from one associate to another. i do not see that any one of us makes enough money to justify the very 90210 drama going on. most of the time the rumors are inaccurate and we allow perceptions and other people to really alter how we see things. Take everything with a grain of salt and just try and understand that most people are there trying to do the best job they can do. I don’t pretend to know everything all the people in my area do, even those who are underneath my supervision often accomplish things that I don’t always see. However, I do see things that they don’t do. But is it fair to judge what I do see if I don’t take the time to find out what it is that I’m missing? No. I take every effort to understand every aspect. If you don’t have the whole picture, you may very well be missing the most important piece.
However, I’m very interested in better understanding things up front. I’ve spent time on the registers recently and in years past when I worked as a cashier. It wasn’t a cakewalk, but it never seemed so bad to me and that was 12 years ago for me now.
Kudos to the anyone who is employed in retail right now, especially the cashiers at Wal-Mart. In this time of economic hardships, they get the brunt of their customers frustrations taken out on them because of the high price of food, merchandise, etc. We all just have to remember to be a little nicer to one another, no matter how bad our lives seem to be at the moment. There is always someone who has it worse than you!
exactly sherry. and with the converter box transition coming along there is a ton of tension and anxiety in regards to the unfairness of the signal transition. there’s a ton of very very good reasons for this transition and i’m not sure this is the place to name them. but with the recession and people’s man source of entertainment being hindered there’s a great many reasons people may be rude without really having any intent to be so. i like the idea that by being really polite and sharing information with people i can do something to help raise morale in a time when we really need it. we’re in a unique position at retail stores. we can help people find more affordable solutions and save them money. right now, that’s more important than ever. and if we can show them the courtesy that we all need, than we’ll have earned our place as #1 retailer.
by the by… Antigo has had the number 1 walmart in it’s market for the last 6 months vying against stores like Rhinelander, Minocqua, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield and Wausau. So, many people may not think WalMart was good for Antigo, but I assure you, it’s been great for our town and by supporting WalMart, we create more jobs and more wages. not to mention the number of thieves our team has apprehended with the APD preventing these people from stealing from local retailers all over town.
Don’t get me wrong semperfi… I like working with customers… i am a people person…I do enjoy my job…everyone is taking what I have been saying out of context. I am just saying to the others who don’t work for us or should I say with us that it would be nice if they understood what its like to us if they are rude, that it can ruin a cashiers mood and not make em nice. the other thing is that I never said you said anything about us being in grade school…I meant that it feels like your back in grade school up front because you even have to ask permission to go to the bathroom among other things
i understand that rude customers can make us feel sour. happens everywhere in the store as I’m certain you understand. But we do have to make certain that it’s not just our perception of the customer, that the customer really is intending to be rude. if you take a simple action or lack there of as intent, you can likely be reading into something that isn’t there. you understand what i’m saying?
Don the rock guy now owns a restaurant outside of Tigerton. It has a rock theme–imagine that!
I READ ALL THESE COMPLAINTS AGAINST WALMART YEAH WALMART HAS GONE MORE CORPORATE THEN FAMILY ORIENTED. THAT’S BUISSNESS SO SHUT THE H— UP. WE GOT JOBS DON’T WE. THE ONE ABOUT THE ANTIGO WALMART IS THE MANAGEMENT TEAM IS BRIGHT BUT COMMUNICATION LACKS AND THEY HAVE TENDENCY OF SHOWING FAVORTISM TO A SELECT FEW LIKE A CERTAIN DOMESTIC CRY BABY ASSOCIATE WHO WINES ABOUT HOURS BEING CUT AND DRIVING LONG WAY TO WORK FOR ONLY A 4 HOUR SHIFT BIG DEAL U CHOOSE TO LIVE THERE AND WORK FAR AWAY SO SHUT UP AND QUIT TAKING OTHER PEOPLE HOURS U KISS *SS. ALL AND ALL ANTIGO WALMART IS ALMOST THE BEST PLACE TO WORK IN THIS SMALL TOWN.
Maybe you should make a blog exclusively for Wal-Mart employees to whine and complain. No matter where you work there are always things that can be better & things that can be far worse, people that suck & lifelong friends. . . Grow up and just be thankful that you have a job and you are healthy enough to be able to work!
here’s an idea for a possible side branch blog. employees at local walmart were told they could be fired for posting negative things on the internet and this site was specifically mentioned. correct me if i’m wrong, but wouldn’t that be entirely unlawful to fire somebody for doing something on their own time, off the clock, off the premises that does not give away confidential business information? i’m not one to support negative things such as the whining mentioned above by xxx. it’s not that i don’t agree necessarily, but it’s going to cause unnecessary dissension to bring up specific people or events. even i have faulted in that measure to some extent. however, freedom of speech is pretty straight forward about how unlawful that particular threat would be.
sorry every one about what i bloged semperfi is correct. about bringing up spacific events and stuff but walmart is a awsome place to work here in antigo and the management team is really good including the store manager. and the associates are just as good.
i agree. we all have our faults but I stick to my personal philosophy that people in general always try to do the right thing. we each try to compensate for flaws and protect ourselves from harm the best we can and that is what’s at the root of the problems sometime. but i personally believe I work with some of the best people I’ve ever had an opportunity to work with (and at one point i was part of a group of over 150 workers!). these people are passionate, caring, devoted, intelligent and dedicated. i’ve personally screwed up a few times and when they call me on it. sometimes that hurts because of how it’s done, but in the the end, we always come out a little better for it so i’m kind of glad that it happens. i’ve worked in factories, the military and another walmart and i’ve never seen the kind of good natured people i’ve seen at my store. i’m proud to work here.
Good for you! We’ve all had co-workers who aren’t the greatest to work with everyday and customer service is part of everyone’s job, some people just need to be reminded more often than others. Wal-Mart is our only one-stop shopping store in this town so like it or not, that’s the way it is!
now if we could only get management with actual leadership training. it’s a bit lackluster when management virtually paints targets on specific individuals (usually whom have no familial bindings throughout the store or are not part of a clique) and makes it a mission to find and prosecute their misdeeds. If you watch the cameras often enough, you’ll find everyone doing something wrong. Isn’t that actually a crime? An unfounded invasion of privacy or something along those lines? Nonetheless. It does little to promote good morale nor does it help anyone to achieve higher standards. If you only ever discipline your child but never teach them what to do to please you you’ll have an angry child. If you lock them within a cage for their own good, the same basis. some of our managers are great, but whereas some are great at the paperwork, their leadership skills are very want. I despise those who would seek out problems with those who have accomplished all of their tasks in their area and have time to help other areas and has done so and they seek to find fault in them. What good does this do anyone? Instead of empowering the tattletales, let’s tell people who are tattling to mind their own business and if it’s not hurting you or actually violating a policy to first look to themselves before they judge others. I like the store and the most of the coworkers, it’s the leadership that I have big problems with. Anyone can be a boss, it takes someone amazing to be a leader. And you can never call yourself a leader if people do not WILLINGLY follow you.
Dear xxx from march 9, 2009 you are a kiss *ss and you make me sick!!! I work at wal mart and no one here is happy except the kiss *sses and the new employees who know nothing yet.
Wal Mart is trying to get rid of all
Dear xxx from March 9, 2009 you are a kiss *ss!!!!!!
I work at wal mart and no one is happy except the kiss *sses and the new employees who know nothing yet. Everyone except the cashiers and dept. managers have had their hours reduced that they need unemployment to make up the difference. If the employee tells Lori they will have to apply for unemployment Lori tells them she will give them hours in the deli (there are no hours available in the deli), and the deli being the worst place to work in the store tells them they don’t want to work in there. That employee has just been tricked into turning down a job and is now unable to get unemployment!!!! Those employees should go back to Lori and tell her you will work in the deli. Even if you have to do a shift in the deli you are now able to get unemployment.
If an employee needs unemployment don’t tell Lori first, JUST APPLY FOR IT!!!
Wal Mart or Lori is pushing employees from the department the are job dutied. into to work in other departments. With no training they are suppose to get the work done. Some of them are in their said dept because of they can’t do the work in the other dept because of health restrictions. If the employee does’t handle this properly they will screw you out of unemployment again!! If Lori gives you and form to sign DON’T JUST SIGN IT. Write on it I DO NOT ACCEPT OR DENY THIS JOB SEE THE ATTACHED DOCTOR’S NOTE. If you don’t have a doctor’s note write on the form I DO NOT ACCEPT OR DENY THIS JOB UNTIL I CAN SEE MY DOCTOR.
If you are relieved of your job or if you quit do not sign anything. In the state of Wisconsin there is no law that you have to sign anything when being relieved of your job or you quit. SIGN NOTHING SAY NOTHING OTHER THEN ” I AM ABLE TO WORK I WANT TO WORK ,GIVE ME A JOB OR GIVE ME UNEMPLOYEMNT
This is a continuation of my March 21, 2009 blog at 2:10p.m.
This is my opinion and I have a constitutional right to voice my opinion of what is going on as I see it at Wal Mart.
HEY CATHY I AIN’T KISS A… BUT UR DUMB SKANK. UR ONE OF THOSE WINING PART TIMERS ARN’T U SO SHUT THE HELL UP THAT’S RETAIL. BUT THIS WALMART HAS TO MANY OLD PEOPLE WORKING AT IT AND THEY CAN’T PRODUCE LIKE THE REST OF US. AND IT EFFECTS EVERY ONE I’M TO OLD TO PUSH CARTS I’M TO OLD TO THROW DOG FOOD. WELL U SIGHNED THE DAM PAPER SAYING U CAN DO THE JOB SO DO IT OR GET THE HELL OUT. GET RID OF OLD AND BRING IN THE KNEW.
Wow, name calling and typing in all caps really makes your argument look weak and makes you look bad as a person. The economy sucks right now, so hours are going to be cut. Chances are if you’re working at Walmart, you either don’t have a college education, or you can’t find a job in the field of your degree. So you can’t really expect a whole lot when the unemployment rate is pushing 10%…
DF2Y u don’t know sh*t about me. i typed all in capitol big deal screw formalitys i never said anything about my hours ever. and to say i’m a bad person well i say bullsh*t i call it how i see it. so before label some one bad just maybe they don’t follow the typical american prude point of views. and the economy yeah it getting worse and will. so my point is if read my first blog on here i support walmart and most of it’s management. it has con’s but more pro’s so in antigo if u work at walmart u pretty much work at the best job in this berg.
hey cathy….maybe you should talk to the cashiers….some who have been getting about 30-35 hrs were cut to 16….so don’t bring the cashiers into it unless you are totally sure!!!!!
To is it just me, the cashier I asked (awhile ago) said her hours weren’t cut. Maybe she was part time and they didn’t cut her hours. I apologize for any error I may have made.
I just want everyone to have the unemployment that they deserve. A simple signature on the wrong form can screw them out of it. When one’s job ends do not sign the exit interview form!!!!!!!!!!! Demand a copy to take to your attorney (even if you don’t have one) and see what the answer is. IF THE ANSWER IS NO DO NOT SIGN IT!!! If they call your bluff, still don’t sign it, leave without signing the form. There is no law in the state if Wisconsin that says you have to sign anything when a job is being terminated for any reason. The company is no longer on your side and is out to protect itself – not you.
I have worked at wal-mart for a little over a year now and would like to share my insights about some of the things I have read on this site, but before I do I need it to be know that yes I realize that most of my co-workers will know who I am and that yes I will probably get some flack for some of the things I will say but who cares…these are my opinions and no one elses. I am a cashier, I don’t love my job, I like the majority of my co-workers (there is 1 csm that I can not stand– in my opinion she thinks her sh*t does not stink) and I realize that it is my job to take care of the customer but that does not mean that i have to take ANY verbal abuse from them and they are not always right in that aspect,it doesn’t happen often but when a customer comes thru my line cussing at me I will put them in their place and if I lose my job over it so be it but like I said I am not there to be someones verbal punching bag. Anyways getting on to other things, as far as cut hours go- from the time i started cashiering up to the time of my review I was getting 32 hours a week no more no less as soon as I got my review and got my raise BOOM my hours got cut- now i’m lucky if i get 28 hours a week -my hours didn’t get cut because of the economy-they got cut because I got a raise. Now on to management–Christine, Shannon, and Lori were all great when it came to a situation that involved my daughter they couldn’t believe that I came to work that day but they helped me get through that day which I am very greatful that they were all so supportive, now on the other hand I had a different situation that involved my mother-in-law and was told by Lori that maybe I should just quit my job well that wasn’t going to happen and I kinda lost some respect for her that day cause wal-mart was supposed to be so family-orientated and I found out that it really isn’t. All in all the past year hasn’t been that bad and if it would have been I wouldn’t still be there cause when I don’t like working someplace I quit or try my darndest to get fired so i can collect unemployment.
wow this got quiet really fast!!!
i was in walmart this past week and i want to know who the short brown haired girl is that is always by the checkouts and the service desk area. i think she is a front end manager or something like that. she is very rude. i went to return something at the service desk and she gave me attitude and rolled her eyes at me when i was talking to her. i want to call can complain about her but i’m not sure of her name. she is not a people person from what i can see.
her name is amber. she is a csm
so has anyone been into peebles yet?? they are way over priced for this town..
to 1956antigo – there is a blog about Peebles, which is here: http://antigobuzz.com/blogs/2009/03/19/peebles-set-to-open-on-april-30/
Seeing as Wal Mart gets crapped on all the time, I thought I would let people know that I received excellent service there today. I was asked three times if i needed help and in the parking lot, the attendant approached me to take my cart for me. I’ve never had a problem with the store, but today was exceptional.
antigoteacher2009- I agree. That girl is always rude about everything. I can’t belive she has lasted this long. It seems like she hates her job and plain old hates people in general.
Ok every one. I have read all of these, and cant say i agree or disagree. There are a lot of nice people that work at wal mart. I really like Brenda from lawn and garden, and Scott also is good. There are some good checkers up front also. I must also say though, that there are some real crabby, or rude people there also. A while back, I was leaving the store, and I was near the entrance to go out. I noticed the employee “Bernadine” hootin and hollering out the door at these guys in a vehicle. Right away I thought there must be some thing wrong. So I asked her,”Is every thing ok?” the next thing I know, she is cursing me and telling me to mind my own damned business. I said to her, Excuse me? I asked for her name, and said that maybe I should go and talk to some one about her attitude. She preceded to tell me to go ahead, you look like you need to talk to some one. I walked out the door, and got half way to the car, and decided I am not going to be talked to like that from some one that is in Customer Service!!, I did in fact go and talk to the manager, but obviously, she must have gotten a sla on the wrist. And what does it look like for her to be out the doors hooting and hollering at others? Shes a door greeter, the the hell was she when I came in?. Those are the kind that should not be there any more. I can not compliment management for keeping that riff raff around.
In another instance, Just last week, I had bought an empty LP tank for my gas grill. Upon shopping around, I decided to return it. I took the tank in, the front door, and immeditely was told that I can not bring that in the store. I told the lady its for a return. Again, i was told, i cant bring it in the store, and I told the lady it was new, never used, i just baught it the day before. Soby then, she was on her radio for a manager, and I was being very nice mind you. The manager come, and says, oh, for a return? Ok no problem, so i put it in the cart, and take it to the service desk. Right away, some older heavier set white haired lady says all snotty to me, that I cant have that in the store, i told her im returning it, it was never used. She preceded to tell me that they dont even sell the tanks there. I told her you do, I baught it here yesterday. Then in walks the manager, and i told he lady that she was the one that told me i could bring it in. The lady preceded to start an argument with the manager, saying that it could not be in the store. the manager set her straight, as she was by now rolling her eyes at me, and i slapped down my reciept. She did the transaction, and handed me the return copy, and turned her back to me, no thank you, no nothing. And I noticed her name tag has a service of fifteen years note on it. I wonder how? With that attitude, its a wonder she made it a year. I’m not saying they are all bad, but the ones in those positions should know the policy and procedures before they go arguing with the customer. Also, she should take into consideration how she treated me right from the start, in an accusing attitude and tone, rolling her eyes. Im sorry, but I pick and choose the people ill check out with also.
I am writing this because this town of antigo should know the corruptness at antigo walmart 3268. There is so much fratinzation going there that it’s against walmart policy. Like the store manger going on the department manager of paper goods and chemicals yacht. store manager going to cook outs at associates house like dept manager of automotive and his wife in fabrics. And also associates from maintence going and working on her house. And letting a husband and wife one work in accounting and other a manager of photo touching registers major policy violation. And then how walmart says it’s family oriented then how come FMLA can bedenied for some and not others. And asst mgr jannel gives associate in toys favortism because in the past she has in the pass worked for toy’s associate parents. Nothing but corruption behind the scenes. The associates deserve better treatment than this. But walmart being so big who’s gonna stop them nobody because they can even break laws and then buy there way out it’s shame. That’s a little of what goes on there. Feel sorry for associates at walmart 3268.
on the feel sorry part….meaning us peons right now everyone who breaks policy right bbb
This is my Christmas wish for store manager Lori,
From the time you started in this store you couldn’t follow Wal Mart’s 10 foot rule. Is it because you picture yourself with a knife in your hand and your not sure who you will put it into next? You can’t look anyone in the eye and say hi.
Wal Mart’s number one rule is “RESPECT FOR THE INDIVIDUAL” Where is this so called respect when you do everything possible to rob people of there hard earned and well deserved unemployment? Sense you tried to screw me out of my unemployment, I have heard many stories of people Wal Mart no longer employs for no good reasons. Some got their unemployment, some didn’t and some are still fighting for it. I know of many workers with health problems caused by the stress of working for you and Wal Mart. I would never want to be the cause of someone health problems or death. In the news today it said people without health insurance have a 40% higher chance of death. My wish for you for this is to SLEEP WELL, SWEET DREAMS.
I would think your paycheck is higher because of your GOOD WORKS. You are doing such a good job at keeping or reducing the payroll. I would think it would show up in your salary. Therefore my wish for you is every time you buy a Christmas present you remember all the people you screwed over and wonder what they get to do or give for Christmas!!! Every time you hear “Thank You” or see a big smile when a present you bought is opened you think of your actions and the people hurt by them.
I would love to buy you the movie “A Christmas Carole” but I can’t afford to waste the money.
I will pray for you though. I will pray that all of the Wal Mart managers and workers get what they honestly deserve. GOOD AND BAD depending on their works.
There are also good things that have come out of Antigo Wal-Mart! When door greeter, Jeff, recently collapsed from some sort of seizure/stroke (?), the employees banded together and took good care of him until the ambulance arrived. I am a regular customer of the store so was there at the moment it happened and saw it all! Give Jeff an extra “hello” the next time you see him because he might not have ever been able to work there again without the excellent co-workers/friends who watched out over him that night!
