Apparently still in custody, Chad Jorgensen, 36, has been charged with solicitation of intentional homicide. The bond amount has been set at $100,000 cash.
According to news reports, Mr. Jorgensen had conversations with another man about details and information about his ex-wife and how he would pay the man to kill her. Some of the conversations were taped. You can read a few of the stories here: WSAW & Antigo Journal
By looking at the court records of Mr. Jorgensen, it seems as though there has been quite a contested divorce going on, with money looking to be the main issue. We’ll see how the story unfolds.

Antigonewbie, you bring up an interesting point. No money changed hands, no one was paid, no one was in fact “hired” to kill anyone. How can you be found guilty for “murder-for-hire” when you didn’t hire anyone?
I’ve read up on a few other murder-for-hire cases — and guilty verdicts were issued for two reasons: 1) someone was actually killed and/or 2) the accused paid someone to do it, which signified intent to commit murder. Neither happened in this case.
Amazed, I’d like to hear your take on that. I know you feel differently — so what am I missing here? Isn’t it impossible to prove intent when he 1) never paid anyone to actually do this and 2) in fact told the person he DIDN’T want her killed???
I agree you should not be convicted for frustration and thoughts/ BUT!!!! He had a plan to exchange a gun and a van also $5,000 was to be exchanged. He even investedgated and read upon how the hit man could leave and change his identity. And how to dispose of the body. These were not thoughts of frustration this was a plan to off the ex. It is illegall to threaten someone and plan to kill them . Even though he had not YET and I stress yet changed money and items for the hit he was scared of getting caught so he put the plan on hold not called it off!!!! Do you guys think if you walked into the police station or court house or even a store and said That I am going to kill you is not a crime. You have no weapons on you just words!!! This is called premeditated murder for hire. Which if you look it up it means you are planning to commit a crime . Even though one has not been commited. Chad is not an upstanding citezen. He has owed his ex from the divorce for two years and has gotten paid cash for jobs so he did not have to pay her the divorce settlement or child support. That is why he was in jail in the first place because he has continually not paid the ex from the divorce over 2 years now. Had he sold the house like he was suupose to do and give her her half he would not be in this situation. And had he not been paying his girlfriends bills ,rent,ect… He would have his debts paid off. I agree he does need help. In a mental facility. So if you think words are not a crime what if your spouse was telling everyone he wanted a divorce but he wanted you dead so he did not have to pay you. Would you not be scared. Would you not think he was serious. Would it then be a crime !!!!!!!

Fact: it shows on the Wisconsin court records that the next court dates are 6-19-08 at 2pm for a motion hearing and 7-30-08 scheduled for jury trial.
Fact: Chad does have an attorney as of 4-24-08 acording to the state website.
Fact: It was Kelly who started the business that Chad worked in, that supported many people for many years. In a town where small businesses struggle to survive- the one she created did well until this mess. She also worked there until she started another business in town- trying to make a better life for her and her family. (at that time, yes- it still included Chad)…there was no “golddigging” just honest hard work.
Fact: The charge is 1st degree intentional HOMICIDE with a solicitation modifyer. The charge was upgraded from conspiracy to comit. Guess there must be some actual FACTS in order for the charge to be upgraded.
Fact: Kathy has not been chaged with anything involving this case to date.
Fact: Chad filed for the divorce, not Kelly (only stated to clear up impression left by someone earlier in this blog…check the facts- he is listed as the petitioner, not the respondent) The filing for divorce was in 2004…had all court orders of been followed by Chad instead of him dragging his feet…,maybe…all parties would be living much different lives today!

Libel is a written defamation. Generally, radio and television broadcasts that are defamatory are considered to be libel, rather than slander.
Can I sue someone who says or writes something defamatory about me?
In order to prove defamation, you have to be able to prove that what was said or written about you was false. If the information is true, or if you consented to publication of the material, you will not have a case. However, you may bring an defamatory action if the comments are so reprehensible and false that they effect your reputation in the community or cast aspersions on you.
What about insults and epithets? Are they defamatory?
Generally, no. Usually they are seen as outbursts of emotion, with no real substance, except to show intense dislike.
Don’t I have a right to express my opinion?
Yes, so long as your statement of opinion is just an opinion, not containing specific facts that can be proved untrue.
Are there defenses to defamation?
Establishing the truth is the single most effective defense that can be offered. If the remark is truthful and it “hurts”, is embarrassing, or subjects you to ridicule, there is little you can do. Unfortunately, unless the remark is false, you have no recourse.
What are the defenses to a libel claim?
There are three main defenses to a libel claim (other than asserting that it never happened or that you were never involved):
The first is claiming, and proving, that the statement was privileged (and thus not public). Only certain professions (doctors, lawyers, psychologists), or individuals (chiefly your spouse) can maintain that privilege; and if any non-privileged third party was part of the communication, the privilege is broken. (Employees of a professional are only partially covered, to the extent that you needed to use them to contact the professional. Don’t expect to tell your deepest, darkest secret to your attorney’s secretary, and maintain that privilege.)
The second defense is claiming, and proving, that the statement is true, for “truth is an absolute defense”.
The third defense is claiming, and proving, that the statement was an opinion, not an assertion of a fact. Since this last defense is only as good as the weakest or worst, but still reasonable, misinterpretation, it’s not one you really want to rely on. There’s a world of difference between saying “I think he’s a crook,” and “he’s a crook”. Especially if a third party might inadvertently leave out the first two words when passing your message on.
What damages are available for slander or libel?
If you have been defamed you may seek both actual damages, to recover the harm that you have suffered, and punitive damages to punish the person who made the remark (and serve as an example to deter others).
If the defamation improperly accused you of a crime or reflected on your profession, the Court or jury can assess the damages. For other types of defamation you must prove some actual damage to be able to recover.
Hopefully this information clarifies things for anyone who needs things more clearly defined. For those who have been committing this crime on these blogs, perhaps an apology and admission of error in writing is in order in the event that charges are considered against you.

maybe legal eagle can explain the difference between hearsay evidence and fact. I’m sure many of the posts on the blog that are so-called “facts” are nothing but what they have heard from someone else or dreamed up in their own little world. I’m not defending Kathy, as I really don’t know the truth, but it astounds me to see how many people know the “real story” and how many people have different versions of the “real story.” Things you have heard from others are NOT facts!

It is great that finally someone had enough guts to tell some of the stuff that really goes on. I worked with Kathy and Chad and some not all of what you say is pretty darn true. I think it is funny some people defend the situaion and know nothing about it. Much of what you have said has hit it on the head. I think Kathy is most of these blogs changing her screen name and defending herself.LOL.

According to the latest article in the ADJ, Chad is using this blog as a reason to have the trial moved. He feels that after all that is posted here, he can not get a fair trial. The judge ruled against him, but made special note of the things posted here and the existance of this site.
Although we are pleased that this site was not bashed, it is a disappointment that the name of the site wasn’t included in that article. Would have been some good free publicity!
Hey Amazed. I find it hilarious that in one of your comments to Kathy, you insinuate that she is stupid by saying “DUH!” You must have went to school in Antigo”. But then in another entry you claim to have gone to school with her….huh, not sayin much for you
Boy, this IS just like 8th grade!! When a person is telling the truth & has the truth on their side, they don’t have to resort to name calling & the like. How old IS this Kathy girl & all you who went to school with her?? 12?? The truth WILL come out eventually & it gives Kathy nor anyone else who comes to her aid more credibility by bad mouthing, name calling, swearing at those who disagree, sometimes vehemently, .We may fool everyone else around us, but what goes around comes around,or to put it another way “We reap what we sow”, so all is moot…..In the grand scheme of things, we aren’t the judge. Only 4 know the truth..Chad, Kathy, Kelly & God. Believe me….it WILL get settled…one way or another.
The verdict is in, and Chad Jorgensen has been found GUILTY by a jury of 12 of his peers in a 2 day court trial.
Let this once and for all set to rest the chatter and supposition. The name calling, the laundry airing,and even the 15 seconds of fame- in the end meant nothing- and in fact nothing in this blog was ever even heard by the jury.
Instead, the jury heard the FACTS read from the transcript obtained by a legally placed wire being worn by one brave man who dared to do the right thing. They heard testimony of other witnesses and even Chad himself pointing toward his true intentions- he wanted his ex-wife dead.
The jury was out approximately 1/2 hour before delivering a unanimous decision- GUILTY of solicitation of murder!
