Generally speaking, I am not a big fan of WPS, but, I have to say that I was seriously impressed with them last night. I don’t know the exact numbers, but, after doing some driving around town and looking at the many houses and businesses without power, I would say about half of Antigo was powerless. With all the downed trees, I was sure that the power would be out all night and possibly still today. I was shocked when the power was returned to my house before midnight and I am not “in” town either.
Isn’t it strange how we got hit with this massive storm on the Anniversary date of the tornado that went through Langlade last year !?
So, for once, I would say that I am happy with Wisconsin Public Service and for all those others who helped with the mess cleanup in Antigo last night

I agree! They, WPS and the county and city crews, were all phenomenal in their response. I am so very glad that no one was hurt at all…because that is a true blessing when you see the damage that wind did.
And yes, it is very eerie that it occurred on the one year anniversary of the tornado that hit White Lake and the surrounding areas.
I stand corrected. It was county officers, city officers, city Public Works crews and WPS working to clean up the tree mess. I understand the county did not roll out any crews because the townships would be billed for their services and the respective township presidents said they did not want this. I feel sorry for those people who pay taxes in the county and get nothing for it when something like this happens. You would think there would be a compromise of sorts in the wake of a disaster.
