Just to update my last post, Rite Size is no longer servicing the area. I beleive it was anything north of Y(???), so unfortunately I'm back at square one.

We have rite-sized but we live outside the city limits and they are way cheaper than WM. You have to pay by the quarter though. It's only thirty some dollars a quarter. I would have to check my bill to be sure the exact monthly charge.

I tried Rite-Size and I was told they do not do residental pick up, so maybe they are only working with their established customers. Also Waste Management did not make me sign a contract, I just pay a quarterly bill.

My neighbors have Rite Size Rolloffs picking up their residental garbage because they say it is cheaper. I have Veoila and they don't make me pay for the year but I do have to pay for the quarter. They may be making new customers pay by the year which I don't agree with. The reason I did not choose WM from the git-go was because they wanted a three year contract signed and I did not want to do that. Veolia has never made me do that. Anyway, judy, did you try Rite-Size? I was thinking about switching to them if they were indeed cheaper. I know they do residental here in Antigo because as I said, my neighbors have one of their residential containers. Nice housewarming gift for sure. I will remember that if I should ever need a unique idea.

Pay ahead for the entire year? What about new customers who can't afford such a fee??? The guys who pick up garbage complain when one bag is over the top, can't imagine having to have a smaller container than what we already have, they like to write on your containers in magic marker when they think you've done something "wrong"...very childless people working for Waste Management.

I called some of the places listed for garbage service in Antigo, as my son, is now a home owner and my house warming gift to him is garbage service for a year. Waste Management is the cheapest and the only competition they have is Veolia, the others do not offer residental garbage pick up. For the medium size container, which holds about 8 large bags of garbage is $14.00 approx a month from Waste Managment. Veolia is only picking up garbage in Antigo if you are willing to pay ahead for the entire year, which is $260.00 a year, which is $21.00 a month, and they only do recycling once a month, and it is for the smaller garbage container that only holds about 4 large bags of garbage and if you have any bags that don't allow the container to be closed completely or outside of the container it is another $5.00 a bag. So Waste Management still seems to be the cheapest and the way to go. Now if you are talking about the large construction project type containers...I have no clue who is cheapest.

According to the manager, he says no. My guess? Competition started the rumor to drive business away from WM and to their services. However - I agree, prices have skyrocketed. But then again with all the diesel fuel used by WM trucks, it really is not a surprise.
