Aldi is OK.. But honestly the prices are not that great. Shop carefully when you go there. You will find the packages might be an ounce or two smaller than the brand name stuff and when you figure out the price, you aren't really saving anything.

Also.. Aldi has a strict policy of outdated items, fruit and veggies. They are mystery shopped by the company quite frequently. Dates are checked quite often, even on the flowers.

Aldi is OK.. If your going to spend $200 on groceries.. You're probably still better off going to Woodmans in Appleton or Green Bay. Of course I have bought things from Share Wisconsin.. http://www.sharewi.org/Order/MemberOrderEntry_Menu.aspx

I don't like that program.. When we tried it, you had to pay for everything up front, and it would take three weeks before you can pick them up..

I shop at Aldi`s once a month..I shop at the Rhinelnder store and have never got out of date or bad food. I like their selection of Fruits & Veggies. I have never seen anything I have purchase go bad in a few days....plus I like the fact that I can purchase alot of items..where if I were to purchase the same items at Walmart..I wouldn`t be able to feed my family..I will continue to shop there..

Aldis may be cheap for a few things, but most of their stuff is way too UNHEALTHY, I wouldn't buy from them. I have one body and would like to treat it good.

We sure don't need that store way over by Mattoon area what good would that do ppl. still would have to travel & if they don't have money to buy food than they don't have money to be running over there.
if you are going to bring in that store to Antigo than at least put it some where like over by past Fleet farm there are alot of empty store places that way.. where the old sears was or even where the furniture store was that went out... Plus what good is bringing that store here when the food only last a couple of days or less.. I sure in hell wouldn't buy food that is old or not going to last that long its a waste of money. also I wouldn't even feed that to my kids they wouldn't eat it anyway cause they look at dates on everything if its out dated they don't eat it at all they don't drink Milk that is out dated by 1 day.. so why would someone want a store like that here..........

If its such a big issue to have Aldi's and Walmart so close together then petition Aldi's be in one of our small outskirt towns. Mattoon use to have a grocery store, which was disgusting, but the convience for the people who didn't live it town was great. Since that store has shut down, see if we can get an Aldi's in Mattoon??!! I drive every other week to either Wausau or Shawano just to go to Aldi's. There prices are great, and I save a ton of money. I still have to visit the regular grocery store for specific items.

I agree we do need a aldi's here in Antigo. There are so many low income people here in Antigo who would be able to buy more for their families.Look at all those people who got layed off work and having a hard time feeding their families. People on food stamps who can do more. I think it would be a great thing to have and prices are not that bad either. They are alot cheaper then other stores.

As with every topic, there are pros and cons. For those who say that Aldi's prices are high, there is also a common theme - they don't ever shop there...so how do they know the prices are high? I do most of my shopping there because their prices are typically lower than anywhere else. Their quality is good, but their foods tend to have less shelf life. They have excellent prices on their fresh meat(s), but if you buy something, you better be ready to use it or freeze it right away. They also have limited hours, so I actually have to make a point to get there. If you are looking for specialty items, there's not much chance you're going to find them at Aldi. As for paying for carts, that's only partially true. You have to pay a quarter to get the cart, but you get you quarter back if you do the responsible thing and return the cart. Yes, you have to pay for bags...if you want to. Most people, if they don't bring their own bags, use the empty boxes that are located all over the store. I don't see this as a problem, considering the huge stash of unwanted bags I have from every other store. I re-use them for garbage, but I will never have to worry about running out! A lot of stores have actually started paying you if you bring your own bag. Granted, it's only a nickel or a dime, but it's essentially the same as charging you for the bag if you use theirs. Last but not least (and this is my own personal pet peave) is that, for some reason, everyone insists on calling it Aldi's...there is no "s" in the name, and I can't for the life of me figure out where it's coming from! LOL

i do not think we need an aldis, i lived about a block from one in appleton but never went there, they were overpriced and you had to pay to use carts and bags, or bring your own. i did however love shopping at woodmans, they were cheap and had an amazing selection of just about everything
