To the people in Antigo:
I would like to address taking your dog, or dogs for a walk in the cemeteries in this town.
Do you realize it is against the law to take ANY animals in the cemeteries in Antigo. There are ordinances also regarding toys being driven in the cemeteries, which includes Bicycles. The latter I didn’t know about until I checked the ordinances out, besides being VERY DISRESPECTFUL to the loved ones who are buried there, having dog feces and urinating on your loved ones graves! What is the matter with everyone?

How sad that there had to be a post about this! I mean come on … do people actually have to be told not to let their pets urinate on headstones? Honestly, what is wrong with some people? As an animal lover, I can see maybe taking a beloved pet to visit the grave of it’s departed master, but I’d either carry the pet in, holding it the entire time or if it was a large pet, drive up as close as possible to the grave and let the animal stay in the car. I would never let it wander around. Isn’t this just common sense? There should be a hefty fine along with a picture in the newspaper for anyone stupid enough to let this happen! Shameful!
How ridiculous that you can’t ride your bike in the cemetery. I don’t think those buried underground really care.
I was wondering about the bike thing. I mean, what if someone wanted to visit a grave and had no car, or just wanted to save gas? I don’t know why a bike wouldn’t be allowed, or why it would be considered disrespectful.
A cemetery is a place of rest, the final rest. There is no call for barking dogs, purring cats, noisy cars, speeding bicycles, or basketballs. Walking should be kept to a level that does not increase your cardiac rate. Voices should be kept low so not to disturb those that are concentrating on being quiet. If you have loose change in your pocket you should be able to afford tissue paper to wrap around your noisy coins.
We need more laws to protect the dead. No power mowers allowed, hand shearing only. No thunder storms in the sacred air space over a cemetery, and certainly no jet planes overhead. No horn blowing within two blocks of a cemetery. High speed police pursuits on roads surrounding cemeteries must slow to a maximum of five miles per hour.
Next week we’ll see what we can do for those of us that are still alive.
I think the original post was a valid complaint and certaily not worthy of sarcasm. How would you feel if you saw a dog urinating on say your departed parents headstones? Your spouses? Or your child’s? A cemetery is a sacred place and recognized as sacred by all the world’s religions.
Smackwater that made me laugh. I think many of us are feeling lawed out.
Hey if the two of you have no problem with this law let me know where your loved ones are buried and I can bring my dogs through…SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR THE DEAD!
THANK YOU LOVES ANTIGO. They can show some respect for the living as well! Many of us are still grieving and do not wish to find our loved one’s sacred memorial in such a state, now or ever! What is wrong with you two?
“What is wrong with you two?’
I cannot speak for anyone else, but as for me:
My feet are cold,
I have a broken fingernail,
I work too hard,
My hearing is failing.
Other than that, I’m fine. What’s wrong with you?
