Phelps Pot Photo – What About Clinton?

So, the latest news on the photo of Michael Phelps smoking pot,
is that Kellogg Co. will no longer sponsor him. I can understand
why, but, at this same time think it is ridiculous! As reported on
Yahoo news, it is stated that, “a photo that showed him inhaling
from a marijuana pipe”, this bothers me. How can a photo show
if someone is inhaling? I don’t think that is possible. And what if
he didn’t inhale, would he still be losing his sponsors?

President Clinton claimed that he did not inhale and that seemed
to be accepted. So, maybe Mr. Phelps should have gone that
route and he could have kept all his sponsors. It seems as though
this whole country is living in some serious denial if they think
that pot smoking doesn’t happen ALL the time in high school
and most certainly in college.

I think we need to give Phelps a break.

Is it really that bit of a deal? Who cares what he does in his own time?! While he’s training and competing he is obviously drug-free because they are constantly tested. Realistically he’s just another human being and we all make mistakes. He’s not perfect, he’s just gifted.

I am not a Clinton lover, but he smoked pot how many years before the issue came up? Quite a difference from Phelps’ situation. If I was giving Phelps money for sponsorship I would surely have a clause in the contract for being a law-abiding citizen as he become a role model and representative for my product when he begins to collect payment. I don’t believe athletes should be looked upon as role models just because they are good, but that changes when he becomes a paid endorser.

EXACTLY! He was being paid to endorse a very well known and well established business, who’s biggest customer base are the parents of small children. He broke the law and was caught and confessed. Why would any business owner continue to pay him? If it were your money and your business at stake, would you? It’s such a shame, because this is truly one young man who had it all and earned it. Such a shame that he threw it away for one stupid illegal act. Can you imagine how his parents must feel after all the years of sacrifice to get him where he was? What a terrible shame.

He was caught smoking pot in a country where marijauna possesion isn’t a crime. Growing and selling pot are illegal in England, but possesion and use is allowed. Why should any Aamerican care about what he was doing on his vacation? The last three presidents have admited to using illegal drugs, punishing a swimmer for smoking on his vacation seems silly. His training requires him to consume 13,000 calories a day. Maybe he just needed some help getting the munchies…?

maybe we shouldn’t have had the last three presidents, their drug use may have a direct correlation with their ability to make good decisions and contirbuted to the downfall of our economy.

I’ll no longer purchase Kellog’s. Shame on those who are persecuting the most incredible Olympian in history! He’s worked so hard for his whole life to achieve the greatness he has, and now he’s being treated like a druggie. Get real! The man deserves a break. Who cares if he took a toke?
