Just giving concealed-carry supporters a chance to show the basis for their stance…. The reduced-crime statistics are conflicting, as the Wikipedia article on concealed carry concludes, “This empirical back-and-forth may well indicate that the data is too incomplete, ambiguous, and crude to establish the positive or negative effects of conceal-carry on crime.[”

One item caught my attention, though – “Using publicly available media reports, the Violence Policy Center claims that from May 2007 through the end of 2009, concealed carry permit holders in the U.S. have killed at least 117 individuals, including 9 law enforcement officers (excluding cases where individuals were acquitted, but including pending cases). ” So, training may be an issue.

Jerry the Constitution gives each one of us the right to defend ourselves. It does not say that it must benefit everyone in the state or country for that matter. Guess what Jerry? It does not benefit the criminals that are already carrying weapons to use against others while committing a crime. In general though Jerry the fact that crime rates go down when concealed carry is enacted speaks for itself even if you are unable to hear the obvious.
Is there some tip-over point? What a ridiculous question! Just when you think it can not become anymore idiotic?

Let’s go with that. How do you determine (measure, analyze) whether your defending yourself and your loved ones has a benefit to the citizens of Wisconsin? For instance, for “protect yourself and your loved ones”, does everyone in the state have to be carrying a concealed weapon? Or is there there some tip-over point where concealed carry has a beneficial effect? And, what is that effect supposed to be?

To start with Jerry once again you can not come up with anything that makes an once of sense. The guy that shot the robbers and the shotgun was not even loaded? Who in the heck would ask someone that is committing a crime if there gun is loaded or not? No one in their right mind is going to take the time to find out. If you pick up any weapon and point it at someone then you had better be ready to suffer the consequences of your actions. Maybe the dumb ass should have showed the people in the store that he had an empty shotgun so they would have known not to shoot him when he tried to rob the store, Moron. Your statement is like saying I shot a guy that lunged at me with a knife but after I shot him he said why did you shoot me? I was not going to lung all the way.

Just list the presumed benefits so we can be convinced to run out and get a permit and buy a gun. The only benefit I can think of is increasing sales for gun manufacturers, and that’s not really compelling enough.
