Kayla Berg Missing for Two Months
Hope Sprenger has been wearing a cross necklace everyday for the past two months, a present from her missing daughter. She says she’ll continue to wear it until she comes home, “I have no idea. It’s like she just vanished.”
Hope’s 16-year old daughter Kayla Berg has been missing since August 11th.
“She did not run away. That’s my true gut feeling it’s not in her nature,” says Hope.
Kayla grew up in Antigo and her mom says there’s no way her happy, outgoing daughter would have left without telling anyone. According to Hope, Kayla went missing while visiting her father in Wausau. The Antigo Police Department is calling Kayla missing and endangered.
“Everybody’s dedicated to the cause and we hope that we can bring her home safe,” says Captain Nate Musolff of the Antigo P.D. He says they have at least one person working on this case everyday. He says they also receive tips from the community constantly, “Community is aware of it and everyone’s chipping in to and doing what they can to help us locate her.”
Hope and Captain Musloff say Kayla’s entire family and the Antigo community are working hard to find her. They both say no one involved will rest until they do.
“We’re not going to quit until we come up with what happened. It’s hard to say when that will happen, but at some point we’re going to figure this out,” says Captain Musolff.
“She is my single motivation. She’s what gets me up every morning,” says Hope.
Hope adds she gets through the days by working to find her daughter, but it’s not easy, “It’s just a nightmare, like I can’t, I can’t wake up. It’s a living nightmare.”
A nightmare Hope says she will only wake up from when Kayla comes home.

Kayla is 16-years-old, she has brown hair and eyes, she is 5 feet two inches tall, she weighs about 108 pounds, has pierced ears and a pierced navel and has scars on the right side of her nose and her right shin.

Well i was sitting wonderen did you have posters go to all the states or just in Wis.??? cause i have alot of family out in this world that live in different states and they are willing to put posters up in there town of Kayla. Please let me know and we can get together and get them to my family and friends so we can at least find her… Thank you….
gohelpppl. – It’s really nice of you to offer to do this and I’m sorry no one answered. You had such a good idea, so I asked if I could use the Xerox at work to make copies of a Kayla flyer that I took down and then replaced as soon as I was done. I then sent the copies out to friends and family in other states like you suggested. Maybe you could do this? I have no idea why someone wouldn’t jump at the chance to give you all the flyers you requested. The more people see Kayla’s photo, the better chance Antigo has of getting her back. This whole thing is so sad. Not a day goes by when I don’t think of Kaya and I’ve never even met her or her family.

Because it takes the whole community to raise a child, we all feel the pain when something goes wrong for one of them.
So I just happened across this story while looking at info of another missing child. I just keep thinking what a shame. First of all, I’m left with many unanswered questions… The last man seen with her was 24 years old. What in the world would a 24 y.o. be doing hanging out with a 15 y.o. That raises a lot of red flags. Also, did he take a polygraph test or submit DNA samples? And what about the man in the truck. It said he had been ruled out, but I didnt find anything on exactly how/why. Just curious, but it seems to me that the police were over zealous in their investigation. Doesnt sound like a runaway to me. This beautiful girl deserves better than a half *ss investigation. And to her mother, I hope your daughter is found & returns home soon. I cannot imagine the agony you must be going through. My heart goes out to you.
Kandy-I totally agree. I smell a rat and his name is Kevin Kielcheski. He knows what happened and is not fooling anyone but the police. I seriously doubt he ever even took her to Wausau. Why aren’t the police doing anything? LIKE SEARCHING HIS HOME AND AREA SURROUNDING IT?
I hope Kayla is found safe, but these past few months I have seen some things I do not agree with involving Kaylas family. The money that people are donating needs to be going to finding kayla, not supporting the drinking habits of the family. I was saddened to see this happening. I thought it was all rumor until I witnessed it with my own 2 eyes. People should be ashamed. People are kind of enough to give a couple dollars to help find her and it gets spent in a bar. Thats not right. Very sad!

Yes I was out, but the monies that I had did not come from Kayla’s acct! Nor did it have any involvement with Kayla. Just because a person is out how would you know where the money came from. If you all really must know my mother and father gave me some money! Pardon me!!

Sorry I did not get back to you, I have not been on in a while, and I just had surgery. But anyway, yes Kayla’s posters are in more places than just WI. And by all means any one can copy her poster off of the national center for missing and exploited childern and you can send them wherever you would like
Thank you for getting back to me. I will do that cause I have friends and family all over the states, I sure hope that she is safe and I know what you are going though with all this. alot of ppl. are talking bad things about this and that but just look at it and say it’s Antigo ppl. talk and some is good and some is bad but i look at it let them talk cause they don’t know what you are going though it has to be so hard on you and your whole family. I saw Kayla once and she was here at my home before this all happened and she was real quite hardly said anything besides Hi to me and i said Hi back she is so pretty. and than she left but I sure hope she is safe and comes home soon. I have 2 daughters and a son and i sit and worry about them everyday. This whole story is heartbreaking. Kayla is just a young girl and the only thing that really matters is that she is safe! Why aren’t the police doing anything? Time keeps ticking away. If she had taken her purse and some of her things, I would have thought she ran away, but she left with nothing! No teenage girl leaves her purse, cell, or any of that when knowingly going all the way to Wausau. All signs point to Kevin Kielcheski. He has no proof he took her to Wausau. He’s lying. He knows more and it’s time someone makes him talk.
All I was saying is that I saw with my own 2 eyes amonst a group of others money being take out of the money jug and placed on the bar for spending. a large amount of money being spent at the bar let alone. It is up to the family how the money is spent but I believe it should be spent to find Kayla. I will leave it at that. I know what I seen along with others. I am sorry if you take offense to this. Wow sherry…I wasn’t at any benefit that was held for Kayla where did I ever say that I was at her benefit. I know where the benefit was held. (the rolling town hall) and if I don’t know what I am talking about then why has the local bar taken the jug off of the bar??? when people seen this being done there was a lot of complaints therefore they took the jug down to avoid their customers getting upset. so don’t you dare tell me what I seen and didn’t see. they will no longer support the situation since the owner was there that night and seen what was going on.and for the record I know Hope very well and I am not trying to hurt her. It’s just hard to put money in those jugs and support finding Kayla when you wittness something like that. As have put a lot of change and bills in those jugs and seeing what my hard earned money was going too. really pissed me off. and I am not the only one who has wittnessed this so don’t you dare attack me!!!
You never once said that you were in a bar so I assumed you were talking about the benefit. I don’t hang out in the local bars so had no idea they have jugs set up for Kayla’s family. Please be more specific from now on with your statements.

I have pulled all of Kayla’s jugs out of all businesses. Now there will be no more confusion! Also there has never been a large amount of money at any of the bars in Kayla’s jugs. The most amounts have come from the none bar businesses. ninety percent of the time I had a money bag for her stuff. The other I would put it into my vehicle and lock it up. I am not putting up with this stuff anymore, that is why I have pulled everything out, and will just do this on my own.
I don’t care what people say in this town anymore and I’m not gonna let it get to me anymore. All I want is my baby girl back!! She did not run away and now it is going on 6 months with no word and no solid leads, except rumors and speculations. I have started to come to terms with the fact that I may never see my baby agian! Don’t get me wrong I am not giving up, but I am a realist! I appreciate all of the people that continue to pray for Kayla and believe that she did not run away! Thank you so much!
Kayla’s mom, I am truly sorry for the ordeal that has been bestowed upon you. I read thru the comments above and do not blame you one bit. You basically have Mayberry and Barney Fife looking for your daughter. I pray that you find resolution to your situation. Please disregard these negative comments and focus on being a better you. Talk about kicking someone when they are down! Honestly! Why would anyone even WANT to attack the mother of a missing child? Any extra energy you have for such things should be spent looking for Kayla, helping find Kayla or at least saying a prayer for her and her family. What if this were your daughter?
If it were my daughter…I wouldn’t be spending the money in a bar. I hope that Kayla is found safe and sound like I said before, but its hard to help donate my hard earned money, when I seen the money being taken and put on a bar to buy alcohol! I simply was just stating I will no longer put money in these jugs if they would choose to leave them out there. There is no one in that can say what they would do if this was their daughter cause no one around here has ever been through a situation like this. There is no need to worry All of the jugs have been pulled out for a while now!!! Like I had said before I don’t care what anyone says around here anymore. I just hope that none of you have to go through what I have had to go through!! All you people that tend to bad mouth other people (well that is a daily occurance in this town) usulally have something of their own in a hidden closet!! But do not tell people that you would do this or this if this was your daughter. I do pray that none of you have to go through a situation like this!! Cause for a parent it is the most horrifing thing that could ever happen. Well now that all of jugs are gone you people can come up with some other bad things to say about me, like I had said I really do not care anymore. I know what I am doing and what has been done and that is all that matters!
You are right KAYLA’S MOM. None of us can imagine what you are going through. I cannot even begin to imagine. I think of you and pray for you and Kayla every day. I also look for her everywhere I go. I think most people feel this way. Don’t let anyone else bother you. They are just not worth an ounce of your energy.

Kayla did what she did for a reason and know one is going to know why she did what she did till she comes home and tells everyone why she did that.. So yes Everyone needs to back off Kevin cause he did nothing wrong. all he did was take her to wausau and came back home like anyone could of taken her but she didn’t want anyone know what she was doing or her plans.. She had this all planned to do what she did..

Okay, first of all I am sorry to hear about this little girl missing, and it sickens me to hear all of this fighting about the mom and missing money, ect. But people need to realise that as messed up as the antigo police dept are is any one sure that this Kevin kid did anything more than give her a ride? And not only that I agree he had no business being with a 15 year old, especially getting high, but why did her parents not know that she was with this boy? My parents knew where I was always at that age, and would have noticed if I were doing drugs, regardless of how many hours they worked and how busy they were. I guess what I am wondering is if this Kevin kid is found innocent, and Kayla god willing comes home is everyone who is on here making accusations against him going to publically appologize to him since the accusations are so public? I know this is a very emotional subject, for everyone involved and not involved, but I feel it is wrong to accuse anyone publically without solid evidence because some day you might have to eat crow and look foolish. In this case I hope that is what happens, because then that would mean this little girl would be home. Hopefully this boys involvement is just a misunderstanding. Like the money from the jugs. Since Kevin is officially the last person to see Kayla Berg, he needs to answer for putting her in that position to begin with. He is an adult, she is a child. Pleading “not guilty” to endangerment is utterly a cop-out on his part, what he did was wrong…giving her drugs, taking her to Wausau, and leaving her there without any regards to her safety.
Oh my God anyone could of taken her to wausau but she called Kevin and that is her problem not anyone else. Kevin is Not Guilty cause he did nothing wrong.and also she could say No to drugs but she didn’t. Also she had this all planned cause she knew she wouldn’t be coming home or back at all. So where ever she is she can come home any time soon..Also she knew what would happen if she did this that Kevin would get in trouble for something. and than he was a friend of the family Gosh a friend don’t do that to friends No matter what..
when she does come home or is found she should be put away for good for doing this to a very good person that wouldn’t hurt anyone.. I don’t know Kayla, nor do I know Kevin. What I do know is that he is an adult, and should not be hanging with a 15 year old girl. I have a daughter close to that age, and if one of her friends were to ask me to give her a ride, I would want to clear it with her parents first.
Whowhatwhere seems to know all about this and that Kayla has done this intentionally. Maybe the police should talk to whowhatwhere to get the information he/she has in order to help bring Kayla home. I can’t speak for her, but I am quite certain her family would love to see her come home safe.
Whowhatwhere says that Kevin did not give her drugs “He didn’t give her drugs she did all that on her own Noone forced her to do drugs.”. That tells me that whowhatwhere has knowledge of whose drugs were being used in that vehicle.
Anyways, can we just leave this alone? If you have nothing productive to say, please say nothing at all.
