My wife, daughter and I have been there a few times already. The food is wonderful, very tasty and good size portions. The employees are very friendly and welcoming as well as the place being very clean and neat. I would highly recommend you give it a try!

Are the cooks from around here?

  3. David says:

I don’t know who the cooks are but I heard it was very good. I’ll try it this week and let you know!

Well, as promised my wife and I stopped at the New Village Inn last night and it was…EXCELLENT!!! Our first impression was very nice. They did a lot of work to the inside of the building, it was very, very clean. There were several people at the bar and Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra were on the stereo. We had a drink and went to our table. My wife had the Ribeye and a Twice Baked Potato both of which were perfect and she loved the homemade soup. She said it was the best steak she’s had in town and it was served on an old fashioned sizzling steak platter. I tried the BBQ Ribs and had fries. What a treat! The ribs were tender and juicy and were actually GRILLED and CHARRED for a change. The BBQ sauce was excellent I was told it was made from scratch. Our server was so nice and friendly and very professional. We met the owners but I’m bad with names. They were great folks. He’s from Minocqua and she’s originally from Antigo. She was a Baraniak girl.
Our second after dinner drink was on the house. We’ll be back again and will most likely become “Regulars”.
This is just what Antigo needed- A good Steakhouse! Kudos!

The food there is the best!

My wife, kids, mother, and I ate there last night. It was my second time, their first. The food was excellent, but the prices were higher than we typically pay for a casual dinner out. The service was very friendly and the bar has a nice atmosphere for those looking to actually hang out and socialize without the interruption of loud, obnoxious music or unruly drunks; plus, they have Summer Shandy on tap, which was refreshing. Ownership was very friendly and sincere; hopefully, they can make a go of it here.

My husband and I stopped out to Zingale’s New Village Inn last night (Saturday). We both had the Prime Rib and it was just wonderful. It was also very reasonably priced. Everyone was very nice and the bar was very relaxing.
We’ll be back again, we want to try the fish!

I went there tonight. I would say the menu items were limited. Only about 8 choices on the menu, and the prices were high. I would say the entree prices were about $5.00 higher than the rest of the restaurants in town. A lot of good restaurants specialize in a few items saying they only have a limited menu is not really a bad thing.

I had the Rib Eye. The French Onion soup was pretty good. Normally the French Onion soup is suppose to have cheese on top. This soup did not. However it tasted home made. It had some spices and herbs in it. It wasn’t like some of the restaurants serving Lipton instant soup mix. The soup at Zingale’s had a little kick to it.

The Onion Strings were great and very reasonable priced. They tasted as if they were made from scratch.

I ordered a baked potato and got mashed. That mistake didn’t matter much to me. The mashed potato and gravy were OK. At least it wasn’t powdered or something you would buy from Sysco and reheated. It was made from scratch.

Steak was good. I had a lot better, I had a lot worse.

Overall, I would say it is one of the better places to have steak in town. I think the prices were a little high for what you get. The 12 ounce Rib Eye dinner was $17.99. Otherwise the place was clean, and it was nicely redecorated.

The Antigo Buzz celebrity Fred Berner was chowing down on Ribs while I was there.

My mother and I went to the new village inn anad let me tell you, The food is awsome there. very tasty and they give you a good helping. The owners Joe and Treasa are awsome pople too. I would recommend anyone who like good food and I mean good food go to the new village and have a good meal that is out of this world.

The menu is smaller than most places in Antigo, but I don’t think that is a bad thing. This is usually how it is done in fine dining establishments, which go for quality rather than quantity. Obviously, this is a steak house, with the pork steak being the signature dish. I did try the two fish dishes on friday nights and found them OK. The place itself is nice and the people are wonderful. I can’t waiit to go back Saturday for a steak, which I have a feeling will be amazing!

  11. Gussy says:

I must have been there on an off night; and I feel like I am the raining on all the rave reviews. The food in my opinion was over-priced and not as palatable as I would have hoped it to be. The French Onion soup was probably the highlight of my meal. Although the steak was tender, there was no flavor.

Keep in mind that the menu is limited; with that in mind this means that all of the items on the menu should be outstanding, not just ok.

I’d say it’s one of the better place to eat in Antigo, but I will doubt I will dine there again.

  12. ddddd says:

You are right in saying that the limited menu should be inspired enough for each dish to be fantastic. I figured that the fish fry was just added because it was such a popular thing in Antigo. Hearing that the steak was not amazing is a shame. I’m going again this week and hoping you did have an “off night” there. They seem like nice people and it’s about time someone suceeded in this location. Thanks for your review Gussy. Feedback is what is needed for new businesses to make changes and do well.

  13. Lindsey says:

My husband and I have eaten there twice and LOVED it both times! The steaks were great–the addition of special sauces on top, as well as onion strings really made them stand out. Salad/Soup was great as well. I would recommend the Walleye fingers for an appetizer. Will definitely be returning!

  14. Berniece says:

How ironic that Lindsey should mention the Walleye fingers. I had them last evening and they were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!

  16. David says:

    Well said Doug!!!!
That “man” is a vile loser, a drunk and a con artist.
The owners were nice people and he screwed them royally.
I personally know of 7 local individuals, all of whom he knew or thought they had money, who were approached by the scum and hit up for hundreds of thousands of dollars as potential “restaurant investors”…NONE took the bait!!!
What a joke!!! The restaurant was NEVER in his name, nor the bar license…he merely owns the building, and barely so.
Apparently he’s filing for bankruptcy soon…What a surprise, uhmmmmmm.
It’s just a shame that yet another nice place has gone down in Antigo. This one had some nice potential.
Let this be a lesson to everyone- BEWARE OF THAT LOCATION AND MOSTLY OF BIERI!!!!!

  17. Julie says:

Kudos to Doug Theisen for telling it like it is!!!!
I saw that Bruce guy out one night, moustache and all, and I’ve never witnessed such a filthy mouth drunk in my life. What a pig! I knew right then he was a loser.
I don’t blame the Zingale’s for leaving- Kudos to them as well!!!
