Antigo Daily Journal, November 13, 2010, page 11, picture caption:
“TRADITION – A strong family tradition in the northwoods is teaching children and grandchildren to hunt. Grandpa Tony Keilcheski, right, did just that on Oct. 19 as he utilized the DNR Youth Mentor hunting program with grandson Brandon Bastle. Success was to be found as Bastle bagged his first buck, a five-pointer.”
Apparently, teaching children and grandchildren to write is NOT a tradition in the northwoods. All together now, “Mine eyes have seen the gory of a badly written story….” Whoever wrote this crap ought to apologize for over-reaching pretentiousness. Whoever copy-edited it ought to be fired. Whoever published it deserves a spanking. Whoever reads it is linguistically damaged for life.

Albus,
You sure like to hear yourself talk. Talk about pretentiousness. Isn’t there more useful things to occupy your time? What a moron. Be sure to point out my grammar and/or spelling errors.
Albus what is up your a$$! Apparently you are not a hunter, but what does writing have to do with a grandparent taking his grand son out hunting? I’ll be taking my daughter out next year and she is an A student! So just sit at your computer and keep your mouth shut cause you dont know what the hell your talking about!
GW, you’re posting an opinion in an online forum. Since the 1970′s when online communication started, grammatical and typing errors in online postings have been considered by all participants to be just part of the passion of the moment, and are not to be corrected or otherwise commented on. They don’t matter. What matters is ideas. The presumed writer at ADJ is writing for publication, has a copy editor, a news editor, and a publisher, all charged with the responsibility to strive for the achievement of journalistic standards of quality. Their public, paid performance is fair game for criticism. They are not doing the job, and should be called down for their failings. Someone who is only pretending to do a job, can’t do it, and is extracting payment for the performance, is either a charlatan, a crook, or an idiot. Take your pick.
Anononmus, I am not criticizing a grandparent taking a grandson out hunting. I am criticizing the awful mangled report of the event by someone supposedly trained to use English as a communication tool in a professional setting. I assure you I know EXACTLY what I’m talking about, especially when it comes to writing. I am as offended by the publication of bad writing as you would be by someone shooting game out of season.
Sometimes I think Mr. Anonymous/Albus is a normal citizen just writing these mindless, worthless, who gives a $hit rants to see what kind of response he can get out of people. Do you really think any of us care how poor the ADJ is written from a grammar stand point. If it is so poor and unreadable, then why and the hell do you continue to read it. I read it for 10 minutes a day when I am taking an “albus” and thats it, then I burn it in my fireplace. I, like most others on here have too many constructive things to do with my time.
Rob, oh come on man. Albus, author of Endless Whiner, oops, I mean Endless Winter is one of those quirky looking guys with thick black framed eye glasses that lacks the courage to introduce himself to a girl and strike up a meaningful relationship and have a life. The first thing he does when he gets home from his job working for the Geek Squad at Best Buy is to log onto Antigo Buzz and pretend to be somebody he isn’t. He probably failed out of first semester at the Palmer College of Chiropractic School and still hadn’t gotten over it when he was turned down that job at the ADJ. Give the poor guy a little slack and allow him adequate time and space to inflate his ego.
I think you are wrong Ben. I believe Albus is a retired teacher with quite a bit of free time on his hands. A devoted fan of NPR and the New York Times, he believes we should still only have Walter Cronkite spoon feeding us our nightly news through the liberal filter. Let him rant and dont get too upset over it. No one is buying what he is selling anymore.

Anononmus?????????????????
Albus, we are soooooo disappointed in you. LMAO
You’re pretty easily entertained, aren’t you, Ben?
Hey, Ben Drinken! Albus was addressing the writer who calls him/herself “anononmous.” Perhaps you’d like to redirect your disappointment.
And Albus. in speaking from experience, teachers do their best to teach Northwoods children to write, and to do so using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, etc. Unfortunately, these youngsters go home to families (and I use that term loosely!) who fail to value public education and, in fact, fail to value the future of their children. God help us all.
I have noticed that the sidebar Google ads on the AntigoBuzz homepage recently have featured grammarly.com and its instant online grammar correction program. It’s a very interesting service. You copy-paste text into a box, and get a read-out on what’s wrong with the text. The reports it generates on ADJ articles discuss grammar errors and good-writing violations at great length….
When I grow up.. I wanna be Fred Berner.
Good news for you, Simplemind! You don’t HAVE to grow up to be Fred Berner! You can substitute a sense of entitlement for maturity, and get there immediately! All you need is a little kindergarten-level “Look at me!”, “I want dat!”, “Am NOT!”, and “I din’t do nuttin’!” and you’ve reached your goal.
Albus – I completely agree about the last Fred comment! I will shut up now since this is a small town.
Stace, not only is Antigo small, but it gets smaller all the time….
