The Fashion Bug store on Antigo’s north side is set to close on January 31, 2011. After many years in the “mall” it is sad to see it go.
For some, this may be a welcome change, especially the younger shoppers, as the new store coming in is aimed more at their clothing styles and sizes. Maurices had been in Antigo many years back and will be returning in the space that Fashion Bug occupied.
You can read the story in the Antigo Daily Journal HERE.

I’m sad to see fashion bug go. I hope Maurices will hire the Fashion Bug employees, so they are not all out of jobs. I think Maurices will do very well for the teenagers and young adults. Not so much for the people in the 40+ age group? Avenue West has very nice clothing but they are way too expensive. The department store I wish we would be getting, is a Kohl’s. You would be able to shop for the entire family in one store. They have nice quality clothing at an affordable price. I know there will never be a Kohl’s here in Antigo but one can dream…..

MAURICES HAS PLUS SIZE CLOTHES AS WELL.
Fashion Bug officially locked it’s doors this past week and none of the employees have been contacted by Maurices.
Would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see a Kohl’s in Antigo….or even a Target or Shopko!!!! It’s not always easy thinking about driving 40+ miles to get to any of these stores! I think Wal-Mart NEEDS some competition!! PLEASE!!??
I agree with Sandy, Wal-MART needs TO LEAVE!! I can’t tell you how many folks have said that a Kohl’s or Shopko or even to have JC penny back in town would be better.
What about Peebles whats wrong with that store theres clothing for everyone!!! and if you have coupons and shop there clearance racks you can get stuff for cheap!!!
Maurice’s is a great store, but their employees get paid on commission, so expect bias sales pitches (as in, no matter what you have on, it will look “great!”) and to be asked every 42 seconds if you’re finding everything you need.
As for other stores…I would die a happy woman if we got a Target here. Kohl’s…eh, I used to live in a town with a Kohl’s and the only time I ever shopped there was for shoes or special occasion stuff, which is to say, hardly ever.
And unless you’re over 50, Peebles is a terrible store. I get that the primary market in Antigo is retirees, but everything there is ugly with a capitol UG. As for the prices, if you need a coupon to buy non-clearance items, the prices are TOO HIGH.
Peebles is just all around bad! There is nothing to buy in there that hasn’t been out of style for at least 5 years! Plus, it’s just cheap brands. WalMart has better quality clothing than that place and that is not saying much.
