The all-too-familiar case of Antigo’s ER Doctor Michael Moore has again made the news. There was an article in the Antigo Daily Journal, which you can find HERE. According to that article, the Doctor has fulfilled his obligation of completing probation and the court has agreed to drop his Felony charge to a misdemeanor.
This just completely sickens me. The man had a secret room FULL of marijuana plants, along with GUNS and just because he has money and is a doctor, he now gets the felony dropped. I find this to be totally absurd! If anything, since he is a doctor, he should be held to higher standards than the average person! It seems to fall in line with the politicians lately.
Why, do we, as a society, put up with these things!?! Especially with the politicians, but, also with someone like Dr. Moore!? I am ashamed of our government and system more and more each day. The medical board should have pulled his license and never given it back.
If Dr. Moore was an average citizen living in this county, he would have NEVER gotten this felony lowered to a misdemeanor! Mr. Uttke would have thrown the book at him, like he does with everyone else. Now, with this lowered conviction, it just looks like Dr. Moore was found guilty of possession of THC, not a room FULL of plants, paraphernalia, guns and whatever else! What a disgrace!!!

I don’t know where you live, but I have rarely seen Uttke “throw the book at” anyone (as a side note, he really isn’t the one throwing the book, it’s Kowalski, but he’s no different). His typical prosecution involves getting people to plea out to the most lucrative charge for the county with a little actual litigation as possible. I encourage anyone who desires to be a lifelong criminal to move to Langlade County since the prosecution and penalties here are so ridiculous. I agree that the Moore charge is a farce, but it follows with Uttke and Kowalski’s M.O.
Wow….I agree Sad…..and I know of tow people in particular that were caught red handed with over 2 POUNDS of pot with intent to distibute….Melissa Fredrickson….she was just in the news paper too….she got off with probation…??? And lets mention her infamous brother Wilfredo Romero….he was nailed three times in the past 18 months for pot…guns…distributing…all he got was probation and a $100 fine….so…Mr. Moore is no more or less then any other dope dealing punk in this town….maybe…just maybe..Uttke and Kowalski should be voted out on next election and get somebody in there that won’t be afraid to prosecute these losers to the fullest extent of the law.

You see it here in Langlade County alot,,, for years and years with the DA, Judge, Sheriff, POs >”especially” “Joshua Johnson” , Officers and many others in the courthouse. Its who you know,,,, MONEY,,, and what they can get out of it to better themselves and their friends. And with others they dont give a crap about and are screwed and left like bread crumbs on a floor. A joke as always
I want to clarify that I DO NOT condone the crime that was committed by Dr. Moore. However I do not feel that his license to practice medicine should have been revoked.
I have been taken to Antigo’s ER on eight occasions. Once for pneumonia, three times for gall bladder attacks, twice for severe sciatica, and twice for heart related problems. Dr. Moore was on duty for three of those visits. Please believe me when I say that he is the best doctor our ER has had. I found him to be professional, kind, and very knowledgable. Antigo needs good doctors, and he is one of the best! I think it would be more criminal to take him out of medicine, than the crime he committed. I hope and pray that I will never have to visit the ER again, but if I should, I hope and pray that he will be on duty!
Buzz, I agree. I do not condone what he did but I have also had better care from him than from other doctors there. Don’t get me wrong, I have had good care from other doctors too but I found Dr. Moore to be one of the better docs I have seen. He seems like he cares and he doesn’t assume everyone is a drug addict unless he sees them abusing the ER. He will get pain under control and do whatever tests he can to try and see what is wrong. Other Dr.’s treat EVERYONE like they are pill seekers and just rush you out with a Toradol shot (which for a migraine is the ONLY cure for me anyway but I digress) and NO diagnostic tests. I know some people ARE and DO abuse the ER for drugs, I tend to go as a last resort, you know the drill right, deal with it for a couple weeks and chow down ibuprofin and tylenol till you have a bellyache, pain can’t be managed and finally break down, figure out how to get to ER, who will watch my child and then get NO HELP because they think I’m a “druggie”. Maybe these things are related, maybe that is why he seems like a more sympathetic doctor with a realistic approach to things. One of the few who actually listen to the patients and seems to really care if you feel better.
I agree, Dr. Moore is the best doctor antigo has. I’ve seen him a couple different times and he was always correct with his dignoisis, not like most of the doctors antigo has. Perhaps he knows something more about the natural remedies than we all do, I have read that pot does have benificial qualities for some health problems.
Let’s get real people! The good doctor was only providing the pot for himself and his wife. Maybe, all of you should start reading ICMag.com medical and start educating youself on use not abuse. I know for a fact pot helps many ailments if used properly. Look, how many states have medical marijuana, along with Dane county in Wis. which has more or less decriminalized growing and possession. What are you going to do when its decriminalized statewide. I suggest you get out of the dark ages!

It’s all up to the Judge & Uttke what they want to do with the people that do drugs.. They are doing their Jobs & they are doing what is best for that person if that person goes & gets the help they are told to do than yes they get off easy but if they don’t listen & keep doing it yes they go to jail..
Dr. moore did everything he was told to do get help & whatever else & he did so yes he is going to get by with a easier sentence & that is what should be done.. For him staying being a Doctor I hope he does because he does a good job at the ER.. He helps people when they are sick & he treats them for what they have not walk in & say ok I think its this & tell you to go home like all other Doctors do at the ER.. No the Judge & Uttke should not be voted out they are good & do what is best for that person.. they let some people off easy to see if they are going to listen to them or not if they get caught using again than they should put them in jail again..
Why should we pay for all these people being put in jail for little things..
Put all dead beat Dads in jail so they pay. also put people that drink & drive in jail. if people get caught using more than 3 times put them in jail also..

Still think drugs is not a huge issue. I have relatives, and friends who were addicted to pain killers, mixing medications, who enjoyed taking alcohol with anti depressants to get a buzz. Fact is since these medications were prescribed, that makes everything legal. These people worked jobs that could have put lives in jeopardy.
I really could care less about pot. If they do it in the privacy of their own homes, not get myself or my family involved, not endanger anyone else, and non-violet Let them do it. Our prisons and jails are overcrowded anyway, and it costs $60,000 a year of our tax dollars to throw one person in jail for a year. Do you want to pay for a new jail?
As far as Uttke, you do have a choice, its called voting. People have ran against Uttke for decades. Uttke continues to be voted in time and time again. I particularly don’t like Uttke, never voted for him..

As a Disabled Vet, who suffers from chronic pain, I can vouch for the good Doctor that pot does relieve pain, and, as far as I know, it isn’t addicting. I had a doctor at a VA Hospital tell me that he could proscribe some “powerful narcotics” for me. He said “you don’t have to worry about being addicted, because you won’t feel any pain.” I couldn’t believe he said that. I already have the pain. I don’t need to be a junkie to boot! LEGALIZE POT IN WISCONSIN NOW! If it can be legal to carry a concealed gun, which can blow someone away, it should be legal to carry a concealed joint, which can blow someone away.
SO WHAT: So the judge & Uttke are doing what is best for that person. When Mr Uttke drinks in a bar all evening, then goes out to his car & drives home, is he doing whats best? It has been witnessed, so don’t try to say it’s untrue. So, when Officer Just got caught in the Jammers debaucle & was sent to Green Bay with the help of his lil P.O. girlfriend, who is, imagine that, originally from Green Bay & she left shortly after. Was he disciplined in the AGJ for all to see? No. Is Jammerz who were caughter selling/distributing illegal guns disciplined?NO Are they still running their shady lil business right here in out shady lil town? You betcha! “Antigo…On the Go!”
It is not so much what you know or how much you have, but rather who you know or who your close relatives know. I have seen this first hand. Life isn’t fair, life goes on. I truly hate the talking down to and superior attitude that a majority of the Police Dept have. They do the same things, but due to life being unfair, much of this isn’t reported nor prosecuted. This doesn’t bother me , but the better than you attitude certainly does. By the way, when the taxpayer is on the hook due to liability issues with certain county personnell, how come these people aren’t fired? I can see if this was an individual business, but the entire county is at risk due to multiple incidents of incompetence and their job is still intact. Lets see (Putting public at risk due to drinking issues, confidentiality issues, etc). If we are going to have faith in our departmental leadership they need to address the situation and keep the liability from increasing to the public.

Most people (ecspecially the police) in this town are severe hipocrits. Smoke marijuana and then arrest people for it the same day. Marijuana is not a mind-altering drug. It is NOT a gateway drug. They only it will give you is a little laughter and a case of the munchies. I think everyone should just chill out about the weed we all know is in Antigo, and worry about real criminals. LEGALIZE!

Of course if you did you would be regurgitating purposely flawed data used to outlaw Cannabis by both the alcohol and paper industry(Think Hearst publishing). Yes pot is illegal, but as Kevin said so was alcohol. Alcohol is a toxin, weed is a plant. If pot were socially acceptable like alcohol, you wouldnt be talking trash about something you have no knowledge of. Jeff that is not what I said. My point is that this Dr caught all kinds of hell for doing the same thing though I am not sure if he was selling or not. Lund and the others have some friends that seem to think that this is no big deal. I have not heard to many coming to the defense of Dr Moore? Why do we have these double standards when they did the same thing?

I will be waiting for a long time because I have said many times that I felt he was a great teacher but he is and should pay the price for what he has been caught doing. I also have been saying that you among others do not know that he has not sold drugs to any kids in this community. It may have been directly or indirectly through being a part of the process that brought the drugs here to begin with. Jeff I stand corrected. I guess I did use the word evil but I am not sure what your point is? I have not described either person as being better than the other. I made the same positive comments about John Lund in previous posts. You are assuming that I do not think these guys were capable of doing their jobs. I do think they both are. I also think that just as John Lund lost his job, so should have Dr Moore. You are also taking some of my comments out of context, because I said anyone would be fortunate to get Dr Moore if you went to the ER does not make the statement that I am saying he is better than John Lund and deserves different treatment?

Well if thats the case I will have to agree with you that my using the word evil was a little over the top. I do not see these guys as evil but they did make some very poor choices that can have a lasting impact on this community. You are correct though that evil is not a good description of them.
i agree that dr. moore is the best er docter they ever had in the er. i have not seen him the last few times in had to go to er. i hope he is okay
Really, is in fact, really stupid, but, that is the beauty of this site.We get a glimpse into the minds of the gifted,the average, and the really stupid, who need most, to try to compensate for their lacking. Antigo pride for heroes Dr.Moore the teachers and others.We pray they fare as well as the doctor did in our court.
