Fundraising for New Robin Mascot Costume

Fundraising for New Robin Mascot Costume

According to the article in the Antigo Daily Journal, which you can find here, the old Red Robin mascot costume will soon be replaced with a new “beefed-up” bird. The cost of the new costume is around $4,500. There is $1,000 currently available.

I would agree that our mascot costume is not the “scariest” out there, but, are we truly in need or just competing with Rhinelander, since they also had a redesign done of their “Hodag” mascot?

I just don’t know if I agree with this, with all the issues on schools budgets and our lack of funds for just about anything…

I am sure there are many who are not in favor of spending the money on a new mascot costume…and they are entitled to those feelings. I however, am not one of them. I think a new beefed up mascot is a great idea!! I feel it will help generate spirit and “Red Robin Pride” among athletes and spectators and this is a good thing. From what I understand, the money will be raised through fundraising and that is a good thing as well. By funding it through fundraising, it won’t be a hardship on an already overtaxed budget and those who are in favor can support it and those who think it is frivilous don’t have to.

I agree with Melsays. If the money comes from fund raisers, who gives a rip? I would also like to add that we are only kids once, and if having a “masculated robin” adds to the enjoyment of our youths high school experiences, so be it!

I am all for the new costume. I heard that the current one is getting pretty beat up and it is very uncomfortable to wear. So much so that no one wants to put it on! If they have a new more comfortable costume, you will have individuals gladly donning it to get the crowds revved up in support of the teams the Robin represents.

I don’t like the “beef up” robin. It doesn’t even look like a robin to me. Let’s keep the original robin and spend the money on on new costume for him instead.

It’s funny how everything has to be beefed up these days. Its no wonder its hard to keep teenagers off of steroids. The old robin should remain.

Question, where the hell did common sense go. Who in their right mind would give money to a school fund raiser when you’re already being taxed to death by the school unions. These government indoctrination centers will waste YOUR money on new sports arenas and such & don’t give s s*** about the arts, & the advanced courses for the gifted student are the 1st to go. Public schools for the most part have nothing to do with education, but rather provide a disservice our youth by force feeding progressive propaganda down their throats. Signing off with this comment, we don’t discipline our kids & send them to the government reeducation camps & yet we wonder why the average teenager’s mind is mush.

Even though it’s better then my high school’s hornet (woo freaking hoo) I’ve always thought the Robin was a pretty stupid mascot. Anything that makes it look tougher can’t be wrong.

  8. old robin mascot says:

I wore the Robin costume back in high school. Had fun doing it.

Then I forgot to return it. Sold it a few years after graduating for $750, so in retrospect it was quite a lucrative job opportunity.
