Impartial District Attorney needed also
Last time I checked, Mr. Uttke, the District Attorney of Langlade County, works for us, the taxpayers.
Not only is the whole drug case being downplayed by the local newspaper and Judge Kawalski, it is being made a complete mockery by the DA.
I am still in shock that Mr. Uttke did not even ask for a cash bond for ANY of the figures in this drug case, but, he also was recorded by the media in doing so.
I realize that Uttke had opposition in running for District Attorney last election, and he obviously won that race, but, maybe with the current cases, more people of Antigo will realize just how crooked he is, along with all the rest of them.
I recall at some point that someone made reference to our Langlade County court system as Mickey Mouse court, or something to that effect, and I would certainly agree now.
The world is watching and these elected officials STILL are playing their favoritism games. Unbelievable!

People keep voting in Uttke over and over again. Uttke has to be on his 6th or 7th term by now. Who’s fault is it?
@ simplemind, its the split party vote. Many voters do not know they can switch party vote!!!!! They then will not go to vote or they will not ask questions at the polls if they do vote, or they just vote Uttke!!!
this has been going on for years folks, the judge before kakwalski was even worse. i personally don,t miss him. if it were some everyday guys right off the street, they would have been locked up, made into common trash and thrown on the heap by now. uttke, like so many of our elected officials get too comfortable in their respective positions and run OUR towns and villages as they wish. and as long as we the people don,t say anything,..well, it’s our own fault. time to rise up and be heard.
Okay…Trader…I beg to differ on your comment that the everyday guy would be locked up and made into trash..I know of several people in this town that got nailed with more then just a joint…I am talking meth…cocaine…and heroin….and they got a slap on the wrist…only to go out and sell it….manufacture it…and go near the schools to distribute it to our young children. Uttke in my opinion should not be in the DA’s office, because he allows these dirtbags to continue their dealing over and over again. Only to let them out with a $100.00 fine and probation…which we all know does not work. While on “probation” they are not to be around criminals, do criminal activity, be around drugs and alcohol…and when they are confronted and brought in front of Uttke AGAIN and AGAIN…he just lets them off AGAIN. A viscious circle of “go out and do it again cuz I ain’t gonna do nothin to ya” attitude. So maybe when voting comes around again for his position….we as members of this community should look more closely as the balled….get him out. For good….retirement…old age home…and maybe he will be taken care of by the very same druggies that he let off over and over again.
I might add also…..when the juveniles get arrested for drinking, drugs, and stealing….maybe Uttke should learn to protect the citezens and not the juvenile who continues to repeat his/her crimes into adulthood. Get them while they are young and give them a punishment that may jsut scare them straight…….intead of blaming the victims for the poor juveniles behavior.

I really see nothing wrong in Kowalski, or Berens myself. But uttke is a crooked piece of $hit. You can just tell by listening to the guy. He pulls figures off of his head like they’re china buffet to go baskets. You know where the guy hand weighs your food and tells you… uhhhh… 8.50. or ummm…. 9.75$. Guys go up to the stand, please guilty or no contest, and uttke pulls figures out of his a$$ like there’s no set guidelines to be followed. To be honest, I could care less who smokes weed, i used to do it myself. But don’t minimalize a bigger problem by saying they got busted with some weed, IF* that’s not the major issue.

Uttke is an -ss. All this prosecution for weed. I mean do we really need to fill our prisons with more non violent offenders? How many times a year do I have to read of him charging people that got caught with a marijuana pipe? I have a friend that committed adultery and because his dad was wealthy and a friend of Uttke, our self righteous DA actually considered bringing charges against him. And this isn’t Bull sh** because I was sitting with him in his lawyers office with Ralph on a speakerphone when he told the lawyer this. Get a grip Ralphie. Maybe you need to go after cops who abuse their authority. But then I guess he’d have to charge himself.
The law is the law. We don’t get to pick and chose the laws we want to follow or ignore. I do agree however that Utke is not a very good DA. All you can do is vote against him in the next election.
