The 1%, what is awful about them?

Saturday, December 17th, 2011

There was a very good article in the 12/16/11 Milwaukee Journal about the 1% vs the 99%. I found this to be a very good read. I couldn’t have said it any better myself.

If You Were on the Jury for Casey Anthony Trial?

Friday, June 24th, 2011

If You Were on the Jury for Casey Anthony Trial?

I am curious as to how the people of Antigo would view the Casey Anthony trial if they were members of the jury?  I would also love to hear opinions and comments on the evidence presented and the witnesses.

In short, here is a quick summary of what has happened so far…

The State of Florida’s theory about what happened is that Casey used Chloroform to put Caylee to sleep and gave her too much and she died.  They claim that she put duct tape over the childs mouth.  They claim that Casey had put Caylee’s dead body in the trunk of her car for a short time before dumping the body in a wooded area near the Anthony’s home.  The reasoning behind this, is that Casey wanted to go out “partying” and didn’t want to be tied down with the child.  They offered evidence of Casey’s lying to police about where she had worked, Universal Studios.  According to that evidence, Casey went as far as taking the Police to Universal Studios and finally after walking through different areas of the grounds, she admitted that she did not work there.  She had also claimed that the child, Caylee, had been taken by the Nanny, whose name was Zenaida, or Zanny.  The police did not find any such person.  The one woman that they did find with that name had no connection whatsoever to Casey or Caylee Anthony.  There was about 1 month of time between when the child went missing and when Casey admitted to her family that she hadn’t seen Caylee for a month.  During that 1 month time frame, Casey had been out partying and drinking, which there have been photos to support that claim.

The last time that Caylee was seen was around June 16th of 2008.  Casey admitted to her family and the police in mid-July, that she had not seen the child for about a month.  The remains of Caylee were found in December.

The Defense claims that Casey was sexually abused by her father and also her brother.  That she learned to lie at a young age and she has done that her entire life.  They claim that Caylee died by accidentally drowning in the Anthony family’s swimming pool.  After the child drowned, Casey’s father, George, found lifeless Caylee and yelled at Casey, something about “how will you explain this to your mother”. Then, George Anthony disposed of Caylee’s body.  The defense also claims that the “meter reader”, Roy Kronk, had something to do with disposing of Caylee’s body because he had told his estranged son that he would soon be “cashing in his lottery ticket”. This, meaning that he would get the reward money once he showed police where the body was.  They also say that there is no way that Casey had disposed of the body because she was in jail at the time the body was found.

Some of the evidence information:
The Prosecution had claimed that there were internet searches made on the Anthony family’s desktop computer for Chloroform and those searches were made while Casey’s parents were at work.  In recent testimony by Cindy Anthony, she explains how she made those searches which originated from her puppies getting into some type of bush or plant that may have been dangerous to them.  She also explained that since her job was a salaried position, she was not always at work on certain times and certain days.

There were small amount of chloroform found in the trunk of Casey’s car, which experts testified to.  It would also shown that chloroform can be found from cleaning products, including bleach, among others.  Casey’s mom, Cindy, had admitted to putting dryer sheets in the car and also using a full bottle of Febreeze in the car. The reason being that the car stunk, and it had been said that “it smelled like there was a dead body in the car”.  Casey’s explaination was that she had put a bag of trash in her trunk and had forgotten about it.  The bag of trash was gone through.

There was 2 stains in the truck of the car.  Cindy Anthony testified that 1 of the stains was there when they had bought the car.

The defense is still in the process of their case.  There is A LOT that has happened and we aren’t suggesting this is all there to it, just trying to give some basis of what is going on.

Please chime in and tell how you feel the case is going, and if you feel the Prosecution has done a good job, etc.

Privacy on Facebook

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/End-of-Privacy-Your-Facebook-cnnm-3227174422.html?x=0
-Another article about Privacy and Facebook shown on Yahoo…..

Every time I read or hear something about Privacy and Facebook, it really makes me wonder what the problem is!?  I mean, seriously, back when I was a kid, my parents names were in the phone book, first middle initial and last name, along with our address and phone number.  So, what was the big threat with that?  Ok, so you got some telemarketing phone calls and junk mail, so what!?  That was part of life.  Now, you can opt in to the No-Call List to avoid getting calls from telemarketers.  As for junk mail, well, at this point, it may just be the only thing to save the US Post Office from completely going under.

I do not understand the BIG threat?  What is the problem?  I can recall my parents buying a yearly or biyearly publication of what we referred to as a “snooper book”, and in that book, not only did you get a person’s name, address and phone number, but, it also told you where that person worked, both parents, and the first names of all the children living in the house, with the year that each child was born.  How much more info do you need!?  Did that scare people?  Obviously not since everyone seemed to agree to have their information included in the book.

We have lost so much of the personal and social aspects of life with the new technologies that are available today, especially the younger generations and I find myself wondering how it will affect society as a whole in the future.

At times I think we have lost some common sense along the way, if you are worried about the wrong person seeing your Facebook status, then, for God’s sake, DON’T WRITE IT.  If you have some pictures that may be embarrassing if your grandparents saw them, DON’T POST THEM!  If you THINK before posting, then there really should be no problem.  Imagine that every person in the world can see what you write and post and then you won’t have to worry.

I would love to hear some clarification and explanation on all the “privacy” issues from others, especially those who are writing these articles and stories in the media.

The Madoff Scandal & The Truth

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Bernard Madoff scammed many out of their life savings, making
extreme amounts of money for himself.  He has been caught & his
scheme has fallen apart.  So, he is sitting in a jail cell waiting for
his trial, right?  WRONG.  He is out on bail probably still living the
highlife, as he has been for years now.  How can this be? We see
people everyday who are put in jail for much smaller crimes and
are unable to afford the bail amount.  We know that Mr. Madoff has
huge amounts of money and apparently it is believed by a judge
that he will not flee.  Will a monitoring system of some type stop
him, if he does decide to flee?  I doubt it.  What will happen to him
when it is all said and done? Will it be fair?  Will ALL those people
get their money back or be able to recover somehow from what he
took?  I don’t think so.  What punishment would be fair?  How do
you right a wrong that is so huge?

At the same time, I think ALL the people who “invested” money
with him are complete IDIOTS!  Why didn’t they do their home-
work?  How could a Ponzi scheme ever get this large?  Why
didn’t the government step in and put a stop to it? You can’t
tell me that NO ONE knew what he was up to!?

Although it doesn’t make the national news, or even the small
local news, there are instances like this that happen every
single day.  People are constantly getting scammed out of
money on stupid schemes on the internet and in newspapers.
These people can not afford to lose money.  It may not be their
life savings, but, for some, it may as well be.  The targets are so
often people who are looking for work, or ways to make money,
but, instead they end up losing it.  And what happens to the
scammers that are profiting from this – ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
Why, because either there are not enough complaints filed, or the
amount isn’t large enough for the authorities to feel that it’s worth
pursuing.  The schemes change all the time too, and with the
anonymity of the internet the scammers are able to just move on
to the next scam.

Mr. Madoff should be made an example of.  Somehow, I think
his victims should be the ones to decide what happens to him.
Maybe if he is punished severly enough, it will set an example
and others may stop scamming for fear that they may actually
have to face the people that they have hurt and stolen from!

Phelps Pot Photo – What About Clinton?

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

So, the latest news on the photo of Michael Phelps smoking pot,
is that Kellogg Co. will no longer sponsor him. I can understand
why, but, at this same time think it is ridiculous! As reported on
Yahoo news, it is stated that, “a photo that showed him inhaling
from a marijuana pipe”, this bothers me. How can a photo show
if someone is inhaling? I don’t think that is possible. And what if
he didn’t inhale, would he still be losing his sponsors?

President Clinton claimed that he did not inhale and that seemed
to be accepted. So, maybe Mr. Phelps should have gone that
route and he could have kept all his sponsors. It seems as though
this whole country is living in some serious denial if they think
that pot smoking doesn’t happen ALL the time in high school
and most certainly in college.

I think we need to give Phelps a break.

Snowmobile Game License (by Albus)

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Wisconsin is finally getting some national recognition for its
leadership in snowmobiling recreational activities. It’s about time,
too, for an industry which (as I was told in comments to another
blog) brings “billions of dollars” to our state every year.

The latest publicity focuses on the potential wildlife management
role played by some of the more creative snowmobilers. A group
of snowmobilers ran down and killed 5 deer near Waupaca, and a
single snowmobiler repeatedly ran through a flock of mallards on
open water in the Fond du Lac River, killing 57 of the ducks.

I have it on good authority that not all snowmobilers wander so far
from the trails. In fact, a possible majority of snowmobilers are
such wusses that they stay on the marked and groomed trails
most of the time. These timid types put an unfair burden on the
adventurous types who must then assume for themselves the
entire responsibility for decorating farm fields, highway hillsides,
roadside lawns, and snow-hidden landscaping with looping,
swirling runner and track designs for our admiration and
enjoyment.

Let’s face the facts, here. Ducks who are stupid enough to hang
around for Wisconsin winters, and deer slow-witted enough to
want to play tag with snowmobiles, really should not be in the
gene pool. As members of the world’s anointed Top Species, we
have a responsibility to cull the misfits and losers from the rest of
the animal and vegetable domains, to bring them up to our own
lofty level of perfection.

I expect the DNR, in its infinite wisdom, will seize on the
opportunity to enlist snowmobilers in wildlife management
projects, and will set up a game licensing program for
snowmobilers for a game stamp tacked on to the current license
for only a small additional fee.

Favre’s Return from Retirement

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Brett Favre’s retirement after last season was controversial and now his return will also be causing some commotion, I am sure. I think he should have gone out with some pride and stuck with his decision of retirement. Now all the media coverage and different opinions of Brett are topping the headlines. It almost seems like a circus really and hopefully it doesn’t hurt the Green Bay Packers in the upcoming season. I would like to hear some comments and opinions on this subject.

Legend Evel Knievel Dies at age 69

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

AntigoBuzz Home

Legend, Daredevil, Icon – I don’t think any of these fully describe Evel Knievel. As a child, I recall seeing Evel Knievel toys everywhere. It seemed every young boy had them. A household name for many years, and still is. In an era where “rebellion” was cool, Evel was “the man”! He could never be confused with another, as there was none like him.

Evel had not performed in quite awhile and apparently was not in the best health for the past few years. HIs death is saddening.

His son, Robbie, does perform, like his Dad. I’m sure Robbie does an awesome job as a daredevil, but, I doubt that he will ever gain the celebrity status of his father.

I am sure that the legend of Evel will continue for many years to come. Our sympathy goes out to his family, friends, and fans.

Should Sheriff Apologize to Ozzy?

Ozzy Osbourne thinks he should get an apology from the Cass County Sheriff in North Dakota. The sheriff staged a phony party in order to lure in people with outstanding warrants. More than 30 actually showed up and were then arrested. Ozzy’s name was used in the invitations to the phony party.

Ozzy feels it was an insult to him and thinks the sheriff is lazy. The sheriff says he was just being creative. You can get the full story here.

What do you think?

3 Year Old Survives Plane Crash – Thanks to Car Seat

Car seats not only save lives in auto accidents, but also saved the life of a 3 year old in a plane crash. The child was traveling in a small 172 airplane with her Grandfather and another man, when the plane went down in Canada. The two men did not survive the crash.

Resue workers said the child was surrounded by debris, and had head injuries, but, they knew she was okay when she was asking for her teddy bear.

You can read the whole story here.
