DA Uttke Finally Has Some Competition

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

AntigoBuzz Home

Ralph Uttke has held the position of Langlade County District Attorney for quite some time now. In the fall election, he will have opposition. Bob Barrington, who ran the Antigo Area Shoppers Guide for many years, will be running against Mr. Uttke.

In the article in the Antigo Journal, there is mention of treating people equally, which just doesn’t seem like the court system here as we have ever known it. It would be a welcome change.

Taxpayers Money Being Wasted???

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

We had a snowstorm last night and got several inches of snow. Which if left alone this morning would have easily melted off the roads and parking lots. So to my surprise when I got up this morning the city employees were out plowing and sanding! I heard them on my scanner! Then to add to that I saw them driving through town with the snow in trucks, which means they were picking up snow that was probably melting in their trucks as they loaded it. To top it all off at 10 a.m. as I am heading to work to earn money to pay these tax paid employees, they are sitting at Farmers Home enjoying a nice breakfast on working time. Also if I have heard right they got paid extra for coming out early instead their normal work shift. To move snow around that was melting as they worked on it. I am not sure who was in charge there and made those decisions, but something just didn’t seem right to me there!

10th Avenue Intersection

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

You would have thought that after putting in the posts, and wiring, they would have installed signal lights at the 10th Ave and Hwy. 45 intersection. It is difficult, to say the least, just to get through that intersection.

I hope that the city/county will put safety first, and finish the job.

ANTIGO HYPOCRISY

Monday, February 11th, 2008

AntigoBuzz Home

Has anyone noticed the hypocrisy of this town…from our newspaper to our hospital? Don’t get me wrong, I read the daily newspaper and I go to the hospital when I need to. I am really “for” them in “most” ways. But I am very skeptical about some of the messages they are portraying. I guess, I’ll start with the “Baby of the Year”. The first baby born of the year “must” be born to wed parents. I don’t understand how this is at all right. I know it is probably because we have a Catholic hospital. But the so called Catholic hospital does not agree with any forms of “prevention”, such as “tying tubes”. I do understand that under the Catholic Religion, children should not be conceived out of wedlock. However, a life is life and our all merciful God, loves us all. Under any religion, “WE” are not to judge each other. I don’t feel it is the hospital, paper, or area businesses duty to say that my children or any others are not fit. I see that my children, who were born out of wedlock, are angels. At least, they are mine. There is no doubt that God sent them to me. Last year, the “baby of the year” had to wait for days before being announced. This year,2008, not until the 12th because all others were disqualified for that reason. Now, how is it that they can just say, “No babies were born today”. What????? I just don’t understand. First of all, our hospital has no problem allowing a doctor who abused an illegal drug come back to work there and can’t acknowledge a new life. What message does this send to our youth? Second of all, isn’t divorce against the Catholic Religion? If the newspaper is standing behind these decisions because of religion, than why is it no problem to plaster divorces all over the paper. Maybe all the people involved in the decision of “Baby of the Year” should spend less time worrying about people’s personal business and more time in church.

Langlade County Social Services Complaint

Langlade County Social Services Complaint

I am wondering how many others have had serious problems with Langlade County Social Services?
There are too many people there justifying their jobs by starting baseless “investigations” that lead nowhere. I know, I was one of many “victims” of this practice, and yet, even though they were informed that a foreign woman deserted her kids here, while they were still under 18, and left town with one of her many boyfriends.
We know this as fact, as we are related to this individual, and while it was reported many months ago, nothing has been done.
What is wrong with this town and the people? Lets get it together, and clean this show up !
Anyone else having problems, SPEAK UP !

GoAntigo Wireless Issues

GoAntigo Wireless Issues

I have heard a few complaints from locals who have requested wireless internet service from GoAntigo. It seems as though they just do not show up for installations, and are hard to get a hold of when help is needed. The few I have heard this from, have since signed up with other providers. I think this is just simply bad business. It saddens me that the City can’t seem to get this going right. I was relieved to see the article in the Antigo Daily Journal regarding a portion of the wireless being bought by Granite. I sure hope this means improvement in their business practices. I think it’s great to give options to those people who live outside of town and are unable to get DSL or Cable internet. I have heard great things about Computer Frontier, who also provides High Speed Wireless Internet. As with anything though, the more competition, the better the prices.

The Rich get Richer! City helps Duffek

The Rich get Richer!

The City is giving Duffeks 20 acres in the Industrial Park Area. One of the wealthiest families in this town and they cannot afford to buy thier own land to build on? They sell out their old business to an out-of-town company that drops long time employees pay to $10 an hour… Like it or leave. Now, they need to build a new plant for their rock crushing/sand/gravel, and the City bends over so they will “stay here”?? Gimme a break!!
