Antigo’s plagiarism plague has infected Langlade Hospital by Jerry Muelver
The Antigo Daily Journal for Wednesday, August 3, 2011, has an impassioned Letter to the Editor titled, “Antigo Physician offers view of health reforms and the future” on page 5. The letter runs over, at great length, to page 11, where readers finally learn that the author of the letter is Noel N. Deep, MD, FACP, FRSPH, etc., etc.
The letter is quite impressive, detailing what’s wrong (in the author’s opinion) with health care systems in the United States, and how Congress should go about fixing the problems. It’s well-written, hard-hitting, well-researched… and a complete plagiarism.
This letter was taken from a fill-in-the-blanks form offered on the web by the American College of Physicians at:

Granted, it’s quite common to use form letters to flood the halls of Congress with urgent messages from organized groups of constituents. In fact, that was the suggested use and purpose of the letter as offered by the American College of Physicians. However, in my view, authorship means ownership. In my opinion, posting this form letter in a small-town newspaper as a personal letter to the editor, without acknowledging that the letter is a fill-in form from the internet, is deceptive, deceitful, and an act of plagiarism.
