Man killed – did police chase too far?

I am wondering if the police have changed their procedures on high speed chases?  After reading the very sad news of a man being killed during a car chase, it surprised me that the chase didn’t stop before the accident happened.

Years ago I can recall being told that the police would chase you, but, only if they thought no one would get hurt.  If they thought that the fleeing person was going to hurt themselves or others, they would back off.

Maybe if the man was suicidal, then I could see it, but then again, maybe if they wouldn’t haven’t chased him, he would be fine today?

The event was tragic and I hope that if the policy/procedure was changed, they should change it back.

I wonder how others feel about this?  Was it justified, or should have let him go?

Susan Tatro Accused of Embezzling Half a Million

The case has been in the works for quite some time and finally the information has been released to the public.

The Antigo Daily Journal reported today that the FBI is in charge of the case and according to the article, Sue Tatro, who was the Human Resources Manager at Waukesha Bearings / Dover, has been charged with embezzling over half a million dollars.

We had also received information that Susan’s husband, Rod, was also removed from his job at the Waukesha Bearing plant in Antigo.

Now we have former teachers getting drunk driving charges

Today I saw on channel 7 where one of the teachers that was charged with possession of THC, along with some other teachers, has now been charged with his 2nd OWI.

Anthony ‘Tony’ Crabb, who resides in Merrill, was named in the news program, although I didn’t see the charges on the Wisconsin Court website yet.

How very sad, although obviously drinking is legal, you would think he would have known better than to drive under the influence.  Another bad example for our children.

Antigo PD Offering Free Drug Test to curb Teen Drug Use

The Antigo Police Department is offering free at-home drug test kits for parents to use on their teens. The anti-drug effort is designed to help parents and kids work together to stop drug abuse.

Detective Sgt. Dan Duley from the Antigo Police Department explains, “If teens know that they’re being regularly tested by their parents, I think they’re lest apt to use drugs, which will help them in the long run.”

The urine test can detect the 10 most common drugs that teens use, including marijuana, cocaine, opiates, meth and ecstasy.

Everyone qualifies to receive the kits. You first have to go to the police department’s website’s to receive the voucher and they will direct you to testmyteen.com.

First off, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

What is the police department going to do?  Put the kid in jail?  Pay for rehab?  Or just put this as a the notch of “hey we tried to curb the teen drug use”  “Look, we are trying to take care of this”

Are you kidding me?  From past history of the kids and drug use, look at how many kids got put in jail, only to have Uttke let them go with a small slap on the wrist.  For years teens have been caught selling, using and dealing, only to be put on probation.  How did that work for you Uttke?  Oh yeah, those teens are now adults, selling, using and dealing.

Curb the drug use?  Then put the dirt bags that are giving away these drugs to the kids away in prison, not just 6 months in county jail and a probation.  I mean really?  There are several people in the jail right now, as I write this who deserve to go to prison for YEARS because of the repeated drug deals, and repeated manufacturing.

So, in closing, I would just like to say HAHAHAHAHAHHA to the Antigo Police Department.  Stop the drug dealers, to STOP the drug usage.  More importantly, not so much for the police department, but the DA and the judge who need to prosecute these felons, drug dealers, drug manufacturers.  Kind of like a snow ball effect, stop the dealers, stop the usage, stop the teenagers from getting it.  Problem solved.  Forget “probation” for the repeat offenders.  PUT THEM IN PRISON!!!!!!!  Get them out of this town.  FOR GOOD.

Mojo’s moving to the north side

So, looks like another downtown Antigo business is moving to the north side of town.

This one surprised me a bit more just because they will be sacrificing space also.  Maybe the mini indoor golf course just wasn’t making enough in order to keep it going, since now they won’t have room for it in their future home.

According to what was posted on facebook, the move will take them to the World of Wood building, to the north of the World of Wood store.

Well wishes to them and best of luck, just sad to see yet another business move from the downtown area.

12th Person Overlooked in Recent Pot Charges

Apparently few have noticed, but there was another person charged with possession of marijuana in connection with the recent pot charges relating to the Principal and teachers.

It was in the Antigo Paper, although the headline was not as large as for the others.  Steven Roehrig was also charged with Possession of THC, and for him it is a 2nd offense, which makes him a repeater.

Jeffrey Neufeld has been formally charged

According to the Wisconsin Court site, Jeffrey Neufeld has been charged with possession of THC.  Mr. Neufeld is the Director of the Clara R. McKenna Aquatic Center in Antigo.  These charges have been anticipated since his name was mentioned in the Criminal Complaint again John Lund, the former Principal and teacher for Antigo Unified School District.

Recently, it had been announced that Mr. Neufeld would remain the Aquatic Center Director, regardless of the drug charges.

Ye Olde Craft Shoppe needs your help

I was disappointed to read the article in the Antigo paper about the Craft Shop having to move out of their currently building.

I can understand that the elderly who are making the crafts for the shop just can not afford any more than $50 per month for rent.  I can also understand the Boys & Girls Club asking for $250 a month.

I noticed some ads in the Shopper recently and also a business listing on AntigoBuzz for E & B Antiques & Consignments, maybe something could be worked out with them.  If they have the room in their store, maybe they could rent some space to Ye Olde Craft Shoppe and it could be a win-win situation for both of them?

Some other business in town may also be willing to do something similar.  I think it would be a terrible shame if the items for sale by the elderly couldn’t find a good place to be sold.

C’mon people, put your heads together and help figure something out for them!

Young man from Antigo killed in car accident

According to news reports, a young man from the Antigo area was killed in car accident early this morning.  A 21 year old woman was apparently the driver of the vehicle, was not injured, but the passenger, a 25 year old man was killed.

The reports say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.  An investigation is continuing.

Signature Bond for Ninth OWI

I am extremely surprised and upset to read about Theodore Tatro, who has been charged with his NINTH OWI and was able to get a signature bond.

In the Journal today, it says that he was already on probation and also that he is prescribed a long list of medications. He also hit a mailbox on Hillside road.

I just don’t understand how our District Attorney and Judge can let guys like this out without having to pay any cash bond. I didn’t see anything mentioned about the guy having a device on his car to test for alcohol either.
