A recent front page article in the ADJ stirred up some thoughts about Jason Ungethum. In the newspaper, the article was about a man who had been convicted of murder twenty some years ago and is now up for parole. It got me wondering about Jason and if, he too, would soon be eligible for parole. I used the DOC Locator site to look up Jason. It does show that he will be eligbile for parole on 08/23/2012.
I was unable to find any court records as to what he was actually sentenced to, but, Marshfield News Herald reports that he was sentenced to Life.
There has always been so much speculation about that murder, but over the years I have not heard anything that would help exonnerate Jason.
Since the murder/crimes were so long ago, I am wondering if the same rules will apply to him as to others, for example, I believe that a sex offender must be released to the same area where their crime was committed.
I am also wondering if this will be his first parole hearing, or if he has already been denied parole in the past. Do they offer any type of counceling or rehabilitation for someone like Jason, or is he just left behind in that regard with the idea that he will never be released?
- Jason Ungethum was convicted of killing his grandmother, Pauline Rock, age 76, on June 31, 1988. He was also convicted of First Degree Sexual Assault against her. He is currently incarcerated at Oshkosh Correctional Instituation-
