Signature Bond for Ninth OWI

I am extremely surprised and upset to read about Theodore Tatro, who has been charged with his NINTH OWI and was able to get a signature bond.

In the Journal today, it says that he was already on probation and also that he is prescribed a long list of medications. He also hit a mailbox on Hillside road.

I just don’t understand how our District Attorney and Judge can let guys like this out without having to pay any cash bond. I didn’t see anything mentioned about the guy having a device on his car to test for alcohol either.

Note – you can find the charges on CCAP HERE.

Fire at Charlotte Court in Antigo

Fire at Charlotte Court in Antigo

A fire broke out today, Easter Sunday, at the apartment buildings behind Walmart. I believe it is Charlotte Court. The flames were extremely visible, as I saw a video on facebook. I hope that no one was injured but I do not know. The state of Wisconsin is under “red flag warning” for fires right now.

Unwed mothers

Unwed Mothers

Every few days the Wausau Daily Herald runs its birth announcements. More times than not, the number of single mothers outnumbers the married parents. The Antigo Daily Journal now publishes the names of unwed mothers in the birth announcements and the number of single mothers is staggering. In this day and age with birth control available to anyone that wants it, and probably free if needed, what the heck is up with all the unwed parents.
My kids tell me unwed mothers are eligible for social programs and assistance with post high school education. Are young women really having babies out of wedlock just for the bennies?

What kind of punishment reasonable for heroin OD?

What kind of punishment reasonable for heroin OD?

I have seen a few news reports about this and the story behind it is just simply sickening!  This guy may as well have killed the girl that he shot up with heroin.

The Antigo newspaper said something along the lines of “she said it was too much” and he said “no, you will be ok” or something to that effect.  He left her in the car by herself and thankfully she did not die.

I do realize that obviously this guy wasn’t thinking at all, and drugs like heroin can certainly do that to a person, but, in my eyes, he should get a severe punishment!

Antigo’s James Buckley faking a run in the 29th Senate District

Saw this story on WAOW and thought it may be worth mentioning on the Buzz.

According to that story, James Buckley of Antigo filed paperwork Friday to run as a Democrat.

The state Republican Party confirms that Buckley is a protest candidate.

Crack vs. bath salts – which is worse?

I’ve been hearing a lot about people getting “high” off bath salts. What’s up with that?  What’s worse, the Crackheads or these addicts? These bath salts seem way more dangerous.. What do you think?

Cousins Subs in Antigo – would you go?

Cousins Subs in Antigo – would you go?

I noticed the blurb in the ADJ Bits & Pieces section on 03/31/12 where it was mentioned that someone may be looking into developing a Cousins Sub shop in town.

I love Cousins subs and would most certainly go there.  It would also be beneficial for me if it was in the downtown area instead of the north side.

I am wondering how others in Antigo feel about this?  Maybe the interested party will take notice if we give some idea as to our feelings on it.

————————————–

Blurb from Bits & Pieces – “I talked to a business friend interested in developing a Cousins Subs business in the downtown area of Antigo earlier this week. Since the closing of Hardee’s and the move by Subway and McDonald’s to the north side of town, downtowners are faced with a slow drive to get fast food.

Of course, the developer wants to make money and wondered if I thought it would work.

I don’t know, but the departure of fast food from the central part of the city did leave a void and for some of us working downtown, a Cousins sandwich sounds pretty good.

I’ll let you know if the project moves ahead.”

Being charged without evidence is now commonplace?

Being charged without evidence is now commonplace?

With all the media attention that the Principal and Teachers have gotten over the drug busts, I am completely stumped on how our District Attorney can be charging these people when there is no evidence?

I saw a headline today about how it is expected that a former teacher will be charged for possession, and it raised these concerns AGAIN.  I thought in order to charge someone with a crime, there had to be SOME evidence?  Where is the evidence?  As far as I understand it, there was NO marijuana found in any of these teachers’ possession.  I just simply do not understand.

I am sure that some of the favoritism mentioned on this blog does happen, but, I really thought, for the most part, that the law was followed when it comes to charging to people.  With the attention that all this hubbub has gotten, it is shocking to me that charges are even being filed.

Have the laws changed recently?  How can this be happening?

A Country Divided

A Country Divided

I don’t ever remember a time in my life when our country was more politically divided than it has been the past several years. Liberals and conservatives are going at each other tooth and nail. Both sides are convinced that that they are correct and the other side is just ignorant.

I know it is not possible but I would love to do an experiment. I would like to divide the country for ten years…with the liberals living west of the Mississippi and the conservatives living east of the Mississippi. Liberals govern the west and conservatives govern the east.

A survival of the fittest contest so to speak. Which side do you think would be the survivor?
