There have been quite a few occasions when I have read through the “Bits & Pieces” articles and when finished, feeling somewhat irritated. I enjoy reading about the old stories of crime and not-so-appropriate behavior, but, I do NOT understand why the names are withheld? I am sure that when the crime was committed, or the person was in court, the names would have been ALL over the newspaper and media, possibly even front page. So, why are they being withheld now? It just doesn’t make any sense at all?
I recall a 17-year-old boy who was convicted of murder in Langlade County, and he was on the front page of the newspaper often and also on the local news. I haven’t heard anything about him in years, but, just the idea that no one seemed to have a problem printing his name when the crime occurred, and my guess would be that his name would be concealed if something was in the “Bits & Pieces” section about him now.
I thought maybe it was some kind of privacy issue, but, I don’t know how that would work since everything would have been revealed years earlier. If someone can shed some light on this, please do! Thank You.
