Community Guidelines
Last updated: March 2026
Welcome to Antigo Buzz
Antigo Buzz is a simple place for people in Antigo and the surrounding communities to share what's happening, ask questions, celebrate the good stuff, and stay connected to the town we call home.
This is not a global feed. It's not trying to be. It's your neighborhood, just online.
Because this is a small community and a small platform, the way we treat each other here matters more than it might on a bigger site. What you post is visible to people you might run into at Kwik Trip, at the high school game, or at your kid's school pickup. That's a good thing. It's also a responsibility.
These guidelines aren't meant to be lawyerly. They're the same kind of unwritten expectations you'd have at a town meeting or a local Facebook group, just written out so everyone starts on the same page.
Antigo Buzz is available to anyone 16 years of age or older.
A Note on Tone
We encourage good-faith conversation, but we're not the tone police. People are allowed to be blunt, frustrated, sarcastic, or opinionated. Being negative or disagreeing, even strongly, is not a violation of these guidelines and is not something we moderate.
The sections below describe the specific things that are not allowed on Antigo Buzz. If something doesn't fall into one of those categories, it's fair game, even if you don't like it. You can always hide someone's posts from your feed if their style isn't for you.
No Harassment or Threats
This one is non-negotiable.
Do not use Antigo Buzz to intimidate, defame, or threaten another person, whether they're a member of this platform or not. That includes:
- Threatening language, even if you frame it as a joke
- Posting someone's personal information without their consent
- Stalking or repeated unwanted contact toward another member
If someone has asked you to stop engaging with them, stop.
This platform exists to bring neighbors together. Using it to make someone feel unsafe is the opposite of what it's for.
No Spam or Commercial Abuse
Antigo Buzz is not a marketplace or an advertising platform. Occasional posts about your small business, local events, or services you offer are welcome. This is your community too. What's not welcome is treating the feed like a billboard.
Specifically, please don't:
- Post the same content repeatedly or across multiple posts
- Use the platform primarily to drive traffic to outside websites or products
- Create fake accounts to amplify your own posts or artificially boost engagement
- Post referral links, pyramid scheme promotions, or get-rich-quick offers
If you're a local business or organization, you're welcome here. Just be a real neighbor, not an ad.
Protect Privacy: Yours and Others'
Think carefully before you share personal information, yours or anyone else's.
Posting someone else's address, phone number, workplace, or other private details without their consent is not allowed. This applies even if you found the information elsewhere online. It also applies even if you think the person deserves to be called out. That's what the reporting tools are for.
Photographs that include other people carry an extra responsibility. If someone is clearly identifiable in a photo you didn't take, consider whether they'd be comfortable with you sharing it. Photos that identify minors deserve particular care.
This platform is for people who live in or around Antigo, or who have ties to the area and want to stay connected. That said, please don't use it to track, surveil, or compile information about other community members.
Content We Don't Allow
Beyond the specific situations above, some content has no place on Antigo Buzz regardless of context:
- Sexual or explicit content of any kind
- Content that sexualizes minors in any way (this will be immediately removed and reported)
- Graphic violence or content designed to shock or disturb
- Content that promotes or glorifies illegal activity
- Hate speech: content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
- Misinformation that could put someone's health or safety at risk
- Content that impersonates another real person
- Anything that violates federal, state, or local law
If you're not sure whether something crosses a line, err on the side of not posting it.
Reporting and Moderation
Antigo Buzz has a small team of moderators who review flagged content and make decisions about what stays and what gets removed. They're neighbors too. People who care about this community and want to see it work well.
How to report something: Every post and comment has a menu that includes a report option. Use it if you see something that violates these guidelines. Reports are not visible to the person being reported.
How moderation works: Reports are reviewed by a moderator. If the content violates these guidelines, it will be removed. In some cases the moderator may take no action. Not every report results in removal, and that's okay. Moderation is focused on specific prohibited behaviors, not on whether a post is negative, controversial, or one-sided. Disliking what someone said is not a reason to report it. You can also hide any neighbor's posts from your own feed if you'd rather not see their content, without reporting them.
What we can and can't do: Moderators act on what's reported to them and what they see. They're not able to monitor every post in real time. If something feels urgent or involves a safety threat, please use the reporting tools and, if necessary, contact local law enforcement directly.
Moderation decisions are made in good faith. If you believe a decision was made in error, you can reach out to us, but please understand that we may not be able to discuss the specifics of another account.
Consequences of Violations
Moderation responses are proportional to the situation.
For most first-time or minor violations, the content is simply removed. For more serious or repeated violations, a moderator may remove multiple posts, limit your ability to post, or ban your account entirely. Account bans are reserved for serious violations or for neighbors who continue to disregard these guidelines after repeated warnings.
If your account is banned, you may not create a new account to get around it. Ban evasion will result in the new account being removed as well.
We're not looking for reasons to remove people from this community. We want everyone here. But we also have an obligation to the community as a whole, and we'll act when we need to.
Questions or Concerns
If you have a question about these guidelines, want to report an urgent situation, or think a moderation decision needs a second look, you can reach us at [email protected].
These guidelines may be updated from time to time as the community grows and as we learn what works. When we make meaningful changes, we'll let you know.
Thanks for being part of Antigo Buzz. This place is what you make it.
